Weekend at the Cabin

This last week Chris and I both took a few days off and went on a little but much needed vacation!!!

We headed up to their cabin

We left on Thursday night

When we got there and unloaded stuff we went out for a drive to see what animals we could find

Saw some deer

Went to the pond and there was a herd of about 15 antelope

Sat and watched 10 pairs of cow and calf elk come down to water as a bull elk sat and bugled on the hillside until sunset

Then we went back to the cabin and watched Fox and the Hound

I haven't seen that movie in YEARS 

Its funny how much you remember

Chris and I were quoting the movie most the way through

The next morning we headed over to Bear Lake 

The weather forecast called for thunderstorms and rain all weekend

We decided to chance it

By the time we got there it was overcast, cloudy and started sprinkling

The weather wasn't cooperating and neither was Kennedy

We played on the beach for an hour or so and decided to go get something to eat and see if the weather cleared up

It didn't

It stayed rainy so we took the back way to the cabin

Stopped by the Elk Valley Station

It was pretty neat

We signed our names into the guest book for 2012

Its cool to look back through and see what every one else has signed or who has written in it

The weather wasn't the best so we spent a little bit of time playing inside

We watched A Goofy Movie

I love all the old VHS's that I've not seen in years! 

It was like a trip down memory lane

Saturday was the day we planned to go four wheeling

Again it was supposed to be rainy and thunderstorms

We decided to chance it

There were some clear pockets and it looked like it was just a light sprinkle

We headed to Old Ephriams Grave

We made it there

Nice and sunny

Just as we were leaving it started to very lightly sprinkle a little

The skies were slightly grey but not bad

Kennedy kept calling it Old Eephis grave.. like Nephi with out the N

Well we made it to about the furthest point out on the loop and the skies turned black and it POURED on us

We had about an hour ride back to camp

We threw on our hoodies and made a dash for it

Kennedy and I were cracking up laughing

She kept singing "rain rain go away" 

and we sang other rain songs

I put my sleeves over her legs (she was sitting behind me) and she stayed nice and warm

The rain was pelting us and just coming down hard

One point she even layed her head down on the bag and I covered her face-hole in her helmet with my arm and she fell asleep ha!

Chris got the brunt of it being in the very front

His clothes were soaked all the way through

The trails filled with mud puddles fast and streams were running down the trail

When we got back to the cabin we were DRENCHED

Todd, Jana, Roy and Kat had just shown up on their wheelers

They parked down in the parking lot of Hardware and rode up

They got caught in part of the storm too but had rain suits

We hung clothes out on the truck to dry and had some snacks

His family got ready to head back out while there was a break in the storm

They were headed up to a lake in the area

They made it a few miles out before lightning started hitting around them and the rain started so they headed back down to their truck

Theres a rule at the cabin

Girls don't cook

Its the "man grill"

At first I really didn't like it

I'm a little stubborn

But I have to say it was kind of nice that Chris did all the cooking and I didnt have to

One of my favorite things about going up there is besides there's no cell phone service :)

are the skies

The sunrises and sunsets are phenomenal

These are views right out the front door!

Kennedy is such a stinkin crack up

She dressed up like Chris

It was perfect

We couldn't stop laughing

Wednesday-Softball

This was our final game before the tournament

Mom came and watched

Dad and Chris played

MarDee and her kids came to cheer us on also

It was a good thing she did 

I needed her band aids

I was first up to bat and hit a high one to outfield just past second

Luckily they didnt catch it but picked it up pretty fast

I knew it was going to be close if I was going to make it or not

 About halfway and I add a little more to my running.. well I leaned a little bit too far forward and my feet arent keeping up 

 I TOTALLY EAT IT HARD about 4 feet from the base.. I mean bad.. go down on both my knees.. slam my elbow.. and do a somersault sideways so that I land just a few inches from the base and facing the wrong way.

my shirts half up and I am covered in dirt

I start laughing so hard and get up

 both knees are running with blood.. my elbow is too. my backs scraped up. i have chunks of dirt in my shorts that are shaking out my leg

and all cause I tripped.

The ump whose done a few of our games, super sweet guy, is so concerned and Im laughing

 he kept asking me are you ok?! are you sure!? the way you went down I thought you tore your achilies

it happneed last game only the guy never got up

 I said nope nothing cool like that im just clumsy

 It was epic

 Freakin first two seconds of the game and im bleeding and covered in dirt. I had to borrow bandaids from mardee cause they wouldnt quit bleeding

She had ones that said Weber 911 on them from a safety fair so we had to take a picture

best part was THREE SECONDS BEFORE I fell

Kyla, Mardees daugther, said to Chris

 "I only come to the games to watch Hailey, Jess and Kim hoping one of them will run and trip"

Guess what

WE WON!!!!

The last inning we were tied 11-11

We shut them down!

They got 3 outs pretty much in a row

Which put us into overtime

We were next up to bat and scored few runs..8 to be exact

Then it was their turn

They scored one run but got 3 outs pretty fast

Final score 19-12

One thing about our team is we really keep a great attitude

We have only won two games

even when we are losing we still have fun

laugh

tease

and enjoy it

This team tonight had a bad attitude

Once the game was tied they started calling foul on everything, calling names, blocking baselines and bases, trying to pick fights with the guys on our team, making fun of us from the dug out

Then when it came time to slap hands at the end several of them wouldn't even do it

Come on people this is all about fun

Im proud of the fact that our team can see that

We ended up scoring 14 runs in 2 innings!

Tuesday-Mini Date and Boat Testing

Tuesday was another HOT one

Kennedy and I stayed inside most the day after her swim lessons and worked on house stuff then she went with her dad

Chris came home from work and we had a few errands to run.. one was dropping off an application for a new place.. which we got woo woo!

Had to stop and get a slurpee too

I love this boy

Hes so sweet

He had to go help out a friend then go do hose testing for the fire dept

and Zack had called and asked me to go help him run his boat that just came back from the shop

The conversation started like this..

(Zack's white.. Im blue)

His girlfriend Melissa was there too but with her arm being hurt she couldnt really help unload or prep the boat so dang it I had to help

I told him Im still wearing my swimming suit to get some sun!

The wind was really blowing but on the bay it wasn't too bad

The water was still a little choppy but no white caps

The air was nice and warm

The sun was shinning

It wasn't long before I told him to stop the boat I wanted to jump in

We spent a good amount of time jumping off the side of the boat into the water

It was so warm!

We had just finished that when he said went down into the cabin

I was laying up on the bow and Melissa was hanging out in one of the chairs

Zack comes back up and says

Hey I've got a knee board in here..

I told him wth!

Lets get that baby out!

Its been over 10 years since I've knee boarded

He didn't have the leg strap for the board but I decided to try it anyways

Right off the bat I pop up and the motor cuts out and I sink lol

Took me a few minutes to be able to get back up again because the water was SO rough

I bounced and bounced and with out a knee strap it was kind of hard to land back on the board

But I did it!

The sunset on the bay was beautiful

What a perfect way to kill a few hours!

What started as an hour turned into a couple

Monday-Swim Lessons, Picnic and Bay

My new days off are Monday Tuesday and Wednesday 

Monday was Kennedy's very first swim lessons at the Peak

To say she was excited would be an understatement!

This kid is a FISH and shes so determined to start school

So to get to do both at once was like heaven!

Her teachers are so cute too

Shes in an introductory class

There are 6 kids and two teachers

Shes loved going so far and loved having her hair done up differently each day

After her first lessons we met Chris at the park for lunch

It was my first food from the new Taco Time

Kennedy played on the toys 

A half  hour went by way too fast!

Then it was time to meet Elysha and Parker to head to the bay

It was SO STINKIN hot outside we melted

The water was nice and warm

We hung out for a few hours and then headed home

Sunday

Man our weekends are always so busy! 

Sundays MarDee watches Kennedy while I work so she can take her to church with her

She looked so cute dressed up with baby Kendell

Yes I know hes not a baby anymore but he will always be baby Kendell even when he's 20

They said they were getting married

I love his face in the second one he cracks me up

Chris spent the day up at the range for the UBA shoot

After the shoot was over we had to tear down the range

Then everyone who could went over to Todd and Jana's for pizza

Rylee (Chris's niece, Derek's daughter) was there 

Nothing is better than a cute baby in just a diaper

We played and she was smiling but I didnt get a good pict of her smiles

This boy

So there is this boy 

As you may have noticed hes been taking up a lot of my time

I kinda like him

The funniest part is we had never really met until just a few months ago

That may not seem that random to most of you but just wait.. and I'll tell you the story of how we met

Back in April I received a face book request from this guy I didn't know

He didn't have a profile pict that was of him so I started looking through his page

All his pictures were group ones

I thought hmm who is this kid? I hope hes at least the cute one

I saw he was friends with my dad and thought whatever

I accepted it

Two days later I went to an archery banquet with my parents

Dad was teasing this guy about being a Grandpa finally and getting old

He introduced me to these two people but I didn't really know who they were

I had met them before but it was a long time ago
Then I realized that guy was Todd.. Ashley's Dad

Ashley and I were way good friends my senior year of High School (shes 2 years younger than me)

About halfway through the banquet this guy came strolling in and sat down with them

Oh wait.. its starting to click..

Thats Ashley's little brother..

(Yeah yeah yeah hes a little younger than me :)

I only met him once when he was like 12

He was kind of cute now and all grown up

I went wait! That is the kid from face book!

Before the night was over him and Kennedy were playing like crazy

She invited him over that night to the house to play lol

The banquet was over and as we were leaving the parking lot he walked us out

I sent him a face book post from the parking lot telling him it was good to see him 

As I hit send he was sending me the same message

We were texting before the night was over

Before we knew it we were on our first date and it snowballed from there

After talking we realized how MANY people we had friends in common

It was absolutely UNREAL that we hadn't ever met before that

I was good friends with his sister in high school

His dad and my dad are good friends

Both in the archery club

His step mom Jana, her parents are Roy and Kat Evans, who ran Roy N Kat Archery

People I have known for years! 

Since I was born

They are friends with my parents before my parents were even married

My sisters were friends with Chris in High School

Im friends with his cousin

I know half his extended family 

We have SO many mutual friends

I had planned to go to his sisters wedding just a year before with a guy I was seeing at the time but plans fell through that night 

and the connections just keep going on and on and on

My dad asked me to come to the banquet as his 'date' for the night

I was actually going to leave the banquet before Chris showed up because I was going to meet someone but he got delayed

Chris wasn't even going to go to the banquet but his parents finally talked him into it and that's why he was late

Its a good thing we both showed up

Hes kinda stolen my heart..

But mines not the only one hes stolen..

And so is all of his family

UBA BBQ

This weekend was the UBA (Utah Bowmen's Association) Shoot hosted by Brigham Bowmen

at the range in Mantua

Friday night was the set up for all the targets

Saturday after I got off work Chris, Kennedy and I headed up for dinner

The shoot was over for the day and it was fun time

All the cookouts are always potluck style which is fabulous

Its such a family atmosphere

Kids all play together

Grownups all sit and have fun

And MAYBE Erin, Manny, and kids were watching the video my mom took of dads Patriotic Program.. maybe..

When I say family I really mean family..

Weather was great

We all sat under the tent

Told jokes and stories and had a good night

4th of July

This year as usual for the 3rd we went to the Firefighters Ball

Somehow I didnt take any pictures!???

We ate at the dinner

Chris and Todd (his dad) took advantage of the auction that was going on during dinner and stocked up on some firefighter memorabilia 

My bike won Best Stock in the motorcycle show this year 

We sat out on the lawn to watch the band play

Kennedy danced her lil butt off

There were fireworks that night and we were home by 1130

We had a long day and were beat!!

The next morning was the Willard Parade

Chris had to work so Kennedy and I headed down

There are always such cute floats and ideas

They hand out popsicles every year too 

My brother Kyle, his wife Karly and their two kids Kesleigh and Dominic sat with us

Mom had Parker too 

The adults spent more time picking up candy than the kids

they were happy once they got their popsicles

Kirk went after his wife with one of the handlines..

Didnt turn out too well for him

She came out into the parade and took the hose from him and got him wet

Kennedy and Parker both ran in the foot races this year

Both won in their age groups too

After the races Kennedy and I went home

She was worn out and grumpy!

Plus it was so hot outside

Chris was just getting home from work so we all took a nap ha!

He had to go back and do firework stuff and Kennedy went with her dad at 4pm so I headed over to Chad and Kandaces for a BBQ

Stayed there for a while eating yummy food then it was time to go meet Jana (Chris's step mom) to go watch fireworks with him and his dad

They were on firework patrol in a brush truck and had an area up on the top of the hill they had to watch

So we took lawn chairs up and watched the fireworks with them

They had to stay out on 'firework patrol' til about midnight

Jana and I went back to the house and hung out until the boys showed up

They had SEVERAL fires they had to put out that night

Poor guys were BEAT when they finally got home

Willard Patriotic Program

Willard City has the longest running Patriotic Program in the State of Utah

Last night was the annual program

Its held at the LDS church because that's the only place big enough with a stage to accommodate everyone 

Each year the councilmen have to preform

In the last 7 years my Dad has been on the council this is the first time hes been able to do it

We were all so excited to watch

Elysha, Dane, Parker, Kerista, Me, Chris and Mom were all there to cheer him on

They had to sing Accentuate the Positive

It was so cute they did a great job

They also had all of the Veterans get up on stage and say who they were and where they were from

It was so neat to see how many were from little ol' Willard and the branches they had served in

So many of them had children currently in active service

I love Willard

I get so excited for the 4th of July events

The Patriotic program is always two days before the fireworks

Then tonight is the big Firemans Ball with the motorcycle/car show, pulled pork dinner, and band til midnight

Then the parade the morning of the 4th, all the fun games, muzzle loader shoot, fire dept cooking, candy drops, fireworks and on and on!

Come on up to Willard if you have time!

Its so worth it

Kennedys Weekend Adventure

Kennedy had a weekend of fun!!!

Ashley and Derek (Chris's sister and bro in law) and their sweet baby Rylee went down to visit their mom on Friday for Taylorsville Dayzz

They were only going to spend Friday night but ended up staying Saturday night too

Kennedy had SO MUCH FUN!

This kid played NON STOP

His mom was so sweet and kept us updated with texts and facebook pictures 

They saw two nights of fireworks, went to two carnivals, rode rides, rode ponies, watched a parade, ran through the sprinklers and on and on

Poor kid was sad she had to come home she was having that much fun

Thank you JaNeal, Jimmy, Ashley and Derek for taking such good care of her

She made so many new friends

Bonfire

Last night we had another BBQ/Fire at Zacks house

Liz and Kinlie are leaving to go visit Nic for about two weeks so we all had to get together

Zacks gf Melissa came over too

A few weeks ago she wrecked her dirt bike (she races motocross) and shattered her humerus pretty much

She ended up having to have surgery, a plate and about 7 rods put into her arm

She was all bandaged and ice packed up but that didn't stop her

Kennedy and Kinlie LOVE the swing set and his backyard

They pretty much spend the entire time out there

Its perfect because its all nice and fenced

We lit off some fireworks (no worries we were safe and made sure nothing could catch on fire)

Ate WAY too much food!!!!

And then started a good fire in his pit

It was a fabulous night.. except for the fact my phone JUMPED off his deck railing and shattered my screen 

:(

Cabin

Thursday night Chris Kennedy and I went up to his family's cabin in the area of Hardware

They have a 40 acre lot

On the way up we saw a bull moose, a few antelope, a cow elk, a few buck deer with little velvet nubbies, a few doe and of course a bunch of sheep and moo cows!

That night we tucked Kennedy into the loft full of beds and we watched a movie downstairs on the couch

A VHS movie

It was so nice but cute to sit on an old couch, watch a VHS movie on a 14 inch tv being ran by a generator

We slept at the cabin and the next morning Chris made us breakfast and we went out four wheeling

The weather was warm and sunny! 

He showed us around the property then we headed down some of the trails at Hardware

Kennedy fell asleep on the back of the four wheeler

We went back to the cabin for lunch

Chris hates his picture taken

I just laugh because he doesnt have a choice with me

So sometimes I get fabulous pictures like this one of him with his mouth full

We took a nap and headed home

It was a nice break! 

Chris went out for a guys night with the boys

I went out to see Magic Mike with the girls

And Kennedy went with Chris's sister Ashley and her hubby Derek to his moms and step dads house in Taylorsville for fireworks and fun!

Archers

Last week was the World Archery Cup

My mom was a VIP guide for Juan from Costa Rica

We had a BBQ one night at the outdoor range

She also brought Tobin from Denmark

Tobin was a crack up!

They were a lot of fun

Kennedys Adventures

I have some of the best friends ever

They have been helping me out a ton with babysitting while I work

Kennedy sure has been reaping the benefits of it!!!

That kid has done SO much lately!

From the jumbo water slide, the pool, science experiments, playing musical instruments, mudbaths

Taking dogs for walks, playing with Brooklyn, coloring with chalk, making cupcakes, watching movies, playing in the sand and on and on and on!
