First Weekend Grounded

This was the first weekend of us being grounded.
Chris is on call as a Fire Warden every 3rd weekend. It starts in the morning on Friday and ends Monday morning. We arent allowed to leave the county and if he has to go anywhere he has to take his brush truck.. and Kennedys not allowed to ride in it since shes under 18. So we are going to get a lot of projects done at home!
Steve (Taylors dad) wanted him to build a ramp for his trailer so they can get Taylors side by side on and off. Chris got the steel and spent Friday cutting and welding it together.

There was a killer sale on pork roasts. I had my mom pick us up some. We got 24 lbs of bone in roasts for $24. They were in big 3 pack. We broke them down and vacuum sealed them individually
We had a little outdoor bbq Friday night. I made burgers on the grill and invited Taylor, Zack and Mom over for burgers. Taylors parents were out of town and Dad was at work.
Zack was running late.
Chris and Taylor were working on the ramps.
Mom, Kennedy and I had the chairs set out, burgers on the grill and the speakers set up outside. The weather was perfect. The big tree provided so much shade. We had just finished eating, Chris and Taylor were halfway through their food and Zack had just shown up when the pagers went off.
We all headed to the medical.
Zack and Mom and Kennedy stayed.
We came back and Zack had to leave to go check on the dogs. Kennedy wanted to go with him. Mom left to go home. Zack ended up having to do some work stuff and took a while to come back. Not long after Zack came back we were all watching tv and the pagers went off again for a good accident. Zack stayed on the couch and Kennedy was asleep. Chris, Taylor and I headed off for the accident.
Taylor and I ended up having to go to the hospital in the ambulance with them.
We know how to throw a bbq haha

Saturday Chris finished up the ramp. This is what the original looked like
and this is the one he built to match it. Steve wanted flat steel pieces added to bring more stability.

He also built lip pieces with tabs to set the ramps on
Him and Taylor spent the day welding the pieces on and grinding down spots.
I spent the day doing laundry and dishes, fletching arrows and sitting in the lawn chair NOT eating a milkshake and watching the boys
It was HOT out. Kennedy and I went in on the couch to watch a movie and fell asleep under the fabulous central air. Chris came inside after Taylor went home and fell asleep in his chair too. I guess we were all out cold. Todd came over and came inside and we didnt even notice. Then Chris got paged out on a grass fire. Him and Taylor went. I had dinner ready for the boys when they got back and Taylor couldnt resist the song of the couch afterwards.
I went outside and shot. Ive been trying to find the perfect arrows for my bow and Ive been shooting vaned 350s.. well after some playing around this weekend Ive found that feathered 400s shoot AMAZING out of my bow. Go figure!
 His and hers
You know its summer time when this is at 5:46 AM

Last Days of School

Kennedy got a yearbook this year.. she spent a good hour like this going through everything
Friday was her last day of school. She was NOT happy about school ending. She kept asking if she could go to Summer School.
This is the beginning of 2nd grade and the last day

She also brought home awards for 3rd place in the Triathlon they did and Star sight reader. She also got a certificate saying she completed 2nd grade

Friday Walk

Friday I went for a walk around the trail system they have above the dike that they're rebuilding. It was nice and shady and cool!

Three Mile Creek Water Day

Thursday our fire department had volunteered to go to Three Mile Creek for their water day. That also happens to be Kennedy's school. I am not one of those PTA moms who volunteers for anything at school... but I will volunteer to spray small children with fire hoses!
Our real main job was to supply water for their slip and slide. We helped the teachers stake it into the ground
They let the children out of the school. Their water time ran from 1230-2.
We set up a line from the hydrant to supply the truck, a nozzle on the hydrant to spray the slide and another one from the hydrant. Then we had the deck gun going off the top to spray kids and put water on the slide.
I went between using a straight stream to a fog and rotated from soaking the slip and slide to getting kids wet on the pavement and grass. I could do this all day!
The line for the slip and slide was crazy!
My child

There was the slip and slide
a water gun fight area
towel and Popsicle area
and at the basketball hoops they had sling shots tied on for water balloon throwing. We never did awesome stuff like this when I was in school!
and lets be honest Im still a kid at heart. I couldnt wait to go down the slip and slide. I was already soaked from running the deck gun. We kept getting a perfect breeze that blew water right back onto us.  I waited until Kennedy was almost there in line and went and joined her.
(shes in the blue)
Someone had to show these kids how it was done. I made it clear to the end.
Then after that it was over.
Monica went with her daughter Mary
and Cami went with Mary too
Vans daughter Meeya

Kennedy got it the second time

after two hours the fun was over.

We cut the water and took apart everything. I went and checked Kennedy out of school (a whopping 5 minutes early) and she got to come home with us in the fire engine. She said it was the best day ever.
We were soaked. I was the only one smart enough to wear shorts and flip flops. They all thought they were being professional in jeans ha. I knew Id be soaked by the time the day was over.
and to top it off after the fun we went to Calls drive inn. She got a rootbeer float and fries. We sat on the grass out front and dried off.

Lower River Hike

Thursday I had plans to hike to the waterfall.. but sleeping sounded better. So instead I decided to do the lower trail along the river at the bottom of the waterfall instead. Its a tougher trail and more in the shade. I was limited on time because I needed to be at the school for their water day.

I have never gone on the lower trail before and was surprised at how neat it was

The river was SO fast and SO deep right now

At this point I had to find a way to circle up to the main trail. I found one route but it was too steep and hard for Rue to climb so I had to find another. I went up and looped into the main trail to head back to the truck.
It was a fun trail! Cant wait to try the full waterfall one next time
