East Canyon Easter Weekend

Friday afternoon after Chris got all his lawns mowed we packed up the car, filled the cooler, packed the bows and fishing poles and headed out of town to East Canyon for the weekend. Dad had been miserably sick all morning long. He looked like hell. So Chris drove his truck and pulled their trailer. I drove my car and Mom rode with me.

Dad was so sick he didn't want to go to dinner with us. Todd, Jana, Mom Chris and I headed to Taggarts for dinner. To be completely honest I didn't know what to expect. I figured it would be some junky burger place. Mom was the only one of us who had eaten there. OH MY GOSH. IT WAS AMAZING. I never expected gourmet food and desserts. I had their chicken and portobello mushroom pasta. Everyone else had burgers. It was all so good. Definitely a must go again.

Saturday morning we had French toast, bacon and sausage for breakfast. I love camping food. Dad was feeling much better thankfully!! We headed over to Park City for a few things. There is a cut off from just past East Canyon that takes you across Mormon Flats area and drops you right off in Park City about 15 minutes later. I saw this at Home Depot and couldnt stop laughing. I told my mom only in Park City would it mean something different.

. We headed back to camp and Todd, Dad, Chris and I went fishing.

It was too windy. We caught nothing. Not even a bite. We played the infamous washer game and had snacks instead

 Chris and I whopped Dad and Todd pretty bad.. 6 out of 7 games

 Of course it didnt take long before it started attracting neighbors and passerbys

 Next we had to go load a bunch of archery bags and hang them at the range.  Phil had just showed up early for dinner so we put him to work.

Dad still cant do anything since hes one week post back surgery so he had to supervise.

 They hung 15 bags

 It was a little muddy.. a little slippery.. and a VERY VERY STEEP HILL. Kinda hard to stay on your feet...Todd wishes he had it on video of him falling and sliding down the mountain. I wish I would have seen it but I was just behind them on the trail!

 Next we hung the 5 practice bags

 We were starving by then. It was time for dinner. Steaks, loaded mashed potatoes and macaroni salad. Dad was just pulling the steaks off the grill and onto plates when one of our friends rides up on his bicycle and asks if we want prime rib. He made a ton and hand 9 people not show! Too bad our food was done. Have I said I love camping food!?

 Of course we had to play a little more washers .

 I really wanted to try fishing again since the wind was gone. Dad and I headed back over for a quick evening fish.

 Dad and I NEVER get skunked together. We always catch something, at least one of us.. not this time. We caught nothing again. No bites.

We headed back to camp and hung out around the fire pit. I didnt take any pictures. I was tired and my phone was charging. About 9 o'clock I called in a night and showered and got ready for bed. I had to work Sunday morning. My new shift I have to be there at 4 am so I needed to get up at 230 since I had about an hour drive from East Canyon to work.

 Grandpa Roy made this awesome chicken box for the chicks. He put so much effort into it. Its so pretty! Its a box we can keep them in to give them some more room to grow until they are big enough to go outside.

 We took it home and got it ready to move them into. Ok Chris did. I sat on the washing machine and took pictures of him. He's used to it.

 Our chicks have gotten so big lately. Their feathers have came in pretty good too.

1 year- April 13,2014

April 13 was our 1 year anniversary.

One year since we said our I do's

One year since we had our cake

 Since we signed our papers to make it official

 One year since we toasted to our marriage

Oh what a year! I cant wait for so many more to come.  That Saturday night Todd and Jana offered to watch Kennedy and we went out to dinner. We used some gift cards we got at the wedding lol! That Sunday night was cake time! Our wedding cake had 3 flavors. Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry.

I didnt want to save a whole huge chunk so I cut off a section of each flavor,stuck it in Tupperware and put it in the freezer. I mean you only get one 1st year anniversary so that means you only have to eat the cake once again.. and I told Chris we HAVE TO.

 The cake actually held really well and wasnt nasty. It stayed moist. The frosting was still good too. Kennedy was way excited she got to eat some too.

 I think Chris forgot we were a year ahead. He pretended to take a bite with his fingers and smeared it all over my face. He said thats what I thought we were supposed to do.. ya sure you did!

Happy Anniversary Honey! Even if you did get cake down my bra.

Week 16- Turkeys, 50th anniversary, telecommunications week and the Great Shake Out

We found our turkeys from the before post at the church on the west side of the highway this week. We talked with them for a few minutes and they were gobbling like crazy still.

Kennedy got a participation medal in archery. She was SO proud of it. We couldnt get her to take it off. She said to me "How did I get a participation medal when I talked half the time!?" I didnt have the heart to tell her all the little kids got one. They dont keep score in her age group.

 Thursday night we had a surprise 50th wedding anniversary to attend. Lynn and Karen Hayes (archery club members) Their family was sweet enough to invite members of the archery club as well. Archery is a huge part of Lynns life. Of course that mean Roy and Kathy (who have known Lynn forever) and Todd and Jana, Mom and Dad, Chris Kennedy and I were all there too. Liz, Kyle, Kinlee and Koree too.

 They had NO idea about this. Their kids planned it, had all of Richardos reserved and went to pick up their parents for dinner. When they got there and opened the door we yelled surprise and scared the hell out of them.

 They were so excited. Lynn and Karen are such sweet people. They were truly humbled that this many people would turn out for their anniversary. They took the time to go around to everyone an say thank you and shake their hands.

 They had gold tipped feathers. Kennedy and Kinlie used them in their hair to become unicorn Indians.

 Kennedy was being so goofy. We couldnt stop laughing as we were trying to take pictures.. and yes she wore her medal to dinner.. to walmart.. to the drs.. 

This week is Telecommunications week.. aka dispatcher week. Our work always does all kinds of cute things for the week to show us we are appreciated. Each week we get a goodies bag filled with all kinds of neat things, or treats, or donuts or surprises.

 Our walls were lined with posters that our agencies did. We are a multi agency dispatch.. we handle for EVERYONE  (police, fire, ems, public works, animal control etc) in Weber and Morgan County. The posters were so sweet!!!! It was so nice to think they would take the time to even sign their names and say thank you.

This week also was the Great Shake Out..aka earthquake preparedness. A few of us were picked to assist some of our agencies with a mock disaster. I got to be the dispatcher for the incident it. It was pretty fun. We went to our backup center and into training modes on all our systems so we didnt wreak real havoc lol! What started out as a building collapse at an elementary school ended as a Level 4 Mass Casualty Incident.

 We even had the Ham radio operators in on our training

 We rocked it.

Chris added an additional sprinkler line to the front system to get ALL the grass better. 

 Then he dug the start of one in the backyard where its some of our harder to reach places

 While he was doing that I tilled the garden and planted my peas, carrots and asparagus. I need to get my potatoes in and then in a few weeks I can plant everything else.
