This New Years Eve we were total party animals. We went ice fishing that morning while Chris was goose hunting. Came home, had lunch and I took a nap while Kennedy played with the neighbor girl. Ive been feeling like Im getting sick so Ive tried to sleep it off and sweat it out. Chris went back out duck hunting that night. He came home and I was making wings, had shrimp and coctail sauce made, and little smokies. He wanted to head over to his Dads so we packed up everything and went. He hurt his back that morning and could hardly walk so we were going to go hot tub and see if that helped. He spent the day with a tens unit on it and couldnt bend over.
We ended up just eating and then laying on the couches. We needed to be at the station just after 11pm to light off fire works. We were both exhausted and could have gone to bed at 7pm but managed to stay up. Kennedy on the other hand was OUT.
As we were leaving the neighbors invited us over to watch their fireworks show. Actually they called to invite Kennedy but she wasnt feeling it. She slept in the car while they lit them.
It was so funny Kristen was so worried they would get in trouble for lighting fireworks (they were completely legal) but she kept stressing the fire dept was going to get called (her husbands on it too) or the police were going to come by. Mike had 5 things of fireworks. He had lit of 4 when the police chief came down the street. She rolled down the window and said "are you done yet!?" he said I have one more to go and she laughed and said "Happy New Years " and drove off.
We headed to the station to get everything set up. Kennedy had a headache and didnt want to come so she stayed home on the couch (its a whole block away) and watched a movie.
These are the big 4th of July fireworks we light. Only when we do those we do it electronically because there are so many to light. With only having 3 racks and 3 cakes we just light them by hand with a fusee
Chris and I were the lighters

They shoot out of the tubes and make a pretty good shock wave as they go up in the air. You have to be careful and lean away from them and not get too close in case they get stuck in the tubes or explode.
Just getting ready to take off out of the cannon
We each started an end an worked our way towards the middle
Then finished with the cakes out front
A hazy view from inside the station. Taylor and Todd took pictures for me since I was busy :)
Happy New Year!
