Week 2 of the Archery hunt

Wednesday after work Todd and I headed back up to archery camp.  We got there just in time to pack up and headed out to our spot. We were there a little bit before a big lightening storm came in. The lightening kept getting closer and so did the thunder. We waited for a while and then it was getting too close and too often. We called it a night and decided it was time to hike out. We made it almost to the top of the first hill before the rain hit HARD. It was a downpour of rain. The lightening was all around us and we were walking through a dense forest with huge trees carrying our metal bows. Todd and I ran into Dad on our way in. He was waiting for us on the way out. He could see our flashlights coming up the hill. About the time we got to him the hail started pounding us. We all were soaking wet. The ground was muddy puddles past our ankles. We hit the open flat and the hail continued. Finally as we got back to camp the rain slowed down. By the time we got inside the trailers we were SOAKED. We had to hang up all our clothes and put them by the heaters to try and get them dried off.
Chris and Kennedy were there by the time we got back. That night it poured all night long. That next morning the rain stopped right before we were getting up. I went over to Todds trailer to see if we were going and it started pouring again. That cancelled those plans. We hung out in camp for the day and cleaned up the camper. You can tell where Kennedy sleeps.
That afternoon it cleared up some. Dad and Phil worked on fixing Dads truck. Kennedy walked past and said "Look Mom! Theyre spooning!!!'

The skies never cleared up but the rain stopped.

 Our home in the mountains
We transfered over water to refil our campers

and then the rain started again.. It rained so bad we stayed inside and watched movies. We decided to go into Montpelier for rain gear. We had some lunch there and then came back to go out hunting.
That evening it finally cleared up some and Todd and I went back in for the night.
That night was a bust.... nothing came in and it started raining on us lightly as we came out. That night it POURED again.Chris and Kennedy went out spotting on the wheeler and didnt find anything. The thing about archery hunting is its usually warm hot weather. Most the time when you archery hunt you find a nice watering hole and wait there....Its a great plan unless it rains every day all day and then it kind of ruins the warm weather water hole waiting plan.
It was raining too bad that next morning to go out so we stayed in camp. Watched some more movies. Then the weather cleared up some. Todd, Chris and I went out on wheelers to check out some new areas.

Then the bad weather started to come in

 My cute boy

It was so cold Todd had to stop and bundle up. It was 38 degrees!

After our ride it started raining again. Chris and K cuddled and watched Fern Gully and I took a nap.
We stayed in for the night because the rain didnt stop. Taylor came up that evening to spend the weekend. Dad made cream cheese chicken enchilada casserole. It was so yummy! He wanted to pose with his masterpiece.
That next morning  it was clearer. Still really damp and foggy but we went in to see if we could find anything and get them moving. Chris came in with Todd and I.
We went to a different place and Chris tried to call us in some elk. It was cold!!! We sat for a few hours and then went hiking. We went over one canyon over and started down hill
We went to the bottom of a canyon and all around, back up another draw

We hiked and hiked and hiked and saw nothing. We didnt even kick up any deer. We came back to camp that afternoon and guess what.. it rained again! We put on another movie in Todd and Janas trailer. Then we went for a drive because we couldnt stay inside anymore. We were going crazy. We found 3 two point bucks but I passed on those. They were just little guys and we have a bunch of time left on deer. Im more worried about getting an elk than a deer. After we came back Mom, Dad and Phil were out hunting. Grandpa Todd turned on Frozen for Kennedy and we made dinner.
That next morning we packed up and headed home!
