Week 47- Work awards, Cousin Christmas Crafts, HVAC program and more hunting

Karly sent me this adorable picture of Kennedy and Kesleigh at archery on Wednesday night.
Wednesday night was also our work awards banquet. We however were not there. We had to work, Kennedy had archery and it was Taylors birthday party. It sounds like we should have gone because I got a few awards.
I received an Angels on Earth award for helping a Dad start CPR on his two day old daughter when they woke up and found her not breathing (she lived)
I got this really nice bag with my name on it
and also this award for it.
I also got my 10 year of service award
and an honorable mention for MVP. The nomination for MVP and the nomination for the Angels on Earth awards that my co workers wrote were very sweet and very kind. It was very much needed and appreciated!
Friday Miss K didnt have school and Chris had to guide a hunt at the pheasant club so she went to Liz's house to have a play day with Kinlie. They have been begging to get to play with each other so it worked out great. Liz had Christmas crafts all lined up. Kennedy wasnt even there 10 minutes and I got this picture of her starting on her craft
They made adorable stockings, popsicle ornaments and painted a ball ornament
Kennedys finished projects. She said "Mom look at my reindeer, it looks like a brown baby sucking on a red binkie!" I totally see Wilson from Castaway when I look at it... WWWIILLLLLSSSOOONNN
Parker came over and joined them too
Id say these girls had a blast! Looking at this Im surprised at how much Kennedy looks like Liz and Kinlie looks like me!
That night we went out hunting in the orchard to see if there was anything. Kennedy was exhausted from playing all day. She asked if she could lay down in the truck while we drove the rows. I told her yes but she had to leave her seatbelt on. Well I turned around and found her like this..
Friday also held some news for Chris. He has been waiting to get put into HVAC school from work. Friday he turned in his application and was given a study guide for an entrance math test he had to take on Monday. His math test was ridiculous. More letters than numbers and it really had NOTHING to do with the course or practical application of the job. He spent the weekend studying and trying to remember how to do math. Luckily Tyson and Taylor are really good at it and showed him some tricks and helped him.
Todd told me Friday night Im picking you up at 6 and we are going duck hunting. OK! Dont have to tell me twice! Chris was on call for work so he couldnt go. Miss K stayed home with him and we had a Dad Daughter Date. The weather was supposed to be HORRIBLE BLIZZARD Saturday which is perfect for duck hunting. There was only one spot open on the refuge that wasnt frozen over and it was packed. We headed out at daylight and found a decent spot. Todd got the first duck.

We got rained on and wind blew but never any snow. There were a ton of ducks flying all over but we seemed to be a little too far to the east. The guys west of us were slaying them. We still had a blast though. We shot 5 ducks and made it home that afternoon before the hail really hit.
When I got home I was cold and wet so I layed by the fire place. Chris and Kennedy started an epic pillow fight. They were both laughing so hard they couldnt breathe.

We went out that night to go explore another area we were talking about going hunting at the next morning. We wanted to go glass and see how frozen it was. It was a muddy muddy road going into it
We found what we needed and went for a little drive to scope out some more areas around it
We were just driving down the road but did some mudding. Kennedy thought it was hilarious. Id count down when a big bump was coming and when we hit it she couldn't figure out how I made the truck bounce like that being in the passenger seat

When we got home Chris had to give his truck a bath!
He did some more studying and working on his math problems to be ready for Monday. Cute little study buddies
We were going to go duck hunting Sunday morning because it was supposed to be storming again however Taylor and Chris got talking Sat night and decided they wanted to go deer hunting instead. So we bundled up and headed out at 7 Sunday morning. It was lightly snowing when we left. Me, K and Chris were all piled on his wheeler.
There were more people up there Sunday than we had seen before. We ran into a group of friends from the archery range also got stopped by DWR. The cop was super nice and sat and talked with us for a few minutes as he checked our licences and teased Kennedy. We saw the buck I missed but no way could we get close to him. We also saw a TON of doe. We rode up one ridge and sat and glassed for a few minutes.

And thats when it went down hill in a hurry. Kennedy started whinning and crying that her feet were cold, her toes were cold, she didnt feel good, she was going to throw up, she was scared... We gave her a protein bar to help settle her tummy and her and I walked around to warm up her toes.
It really wasnt that cold out at all. She just wasnt having it. She honestly cried/whimpered for 30 minutes at least. I dont know what her deal was. We started back down the mountain after watching some deer and she cried the entire way. She was scared to go down a hill that we had came up. Honestly this one hill was a lot worse to go UP than down. We stooped and I checked her toes. They were cold but not bad. I took off her boots and blew on her toes and warmed them up and she was still crying. We got to the hill and I told her just trust us and close your eyes. As we went down the hill she laughed the entire time because it was fun and the tears instantly stopped. She giggled the rest of the time home.  You gotta be freaking kidding me!!! After that entire meltdown. I was done I told her as soon as we got home she was eating something and then taking a nap! She had some cereal and went upstairs and slept for almost 3 hours. Mom took a nap for almost that long too!

Monday I didnt work any overtime. Chris was at work, Kennedy was at school all day, it was so strange being home alone. I went up to moms at 9 and we went out go to deer hunting in the orchard again. Elysha and Macee came with us. Macee HATES me. She is 100% a mommas girl. She wont go to anyone but Grandma Chris or Elysha. She cries if you even look at her. Usually the only way for her to let you hold her is if you turn on the camera on your phone and let her take selfies. I was still getting the scuz looks

Chris went in Monday afternoon and took his entry math exam.. HE DID AMAZING! All his hard work paid off! He only missed 1 problem. Im so very proud of him! He is now officially enrolled in the HVAC program at OWATC. He went to his first class this Tuesday and will go twice a week for the next 4 years. However hes coming in a little late so he has to catch up to where they are this semester before the beginning of January, so hes pretty much got to fit a whole semester of book work into 1 month. 4 years will be a long time but his work is paying for it all!

Week 46- First snow, Craft Day, Wallpaper, Duck and Deer hunting

Chris had Tuesday off and after he took Kennedy to school him, Tyson and Caitlyn went out duck hunting.  This was her first duck hunt. They did pretty decent.

Also Tuesday night we had elections for the Fire Dept. Had some changes and Todd became our new Assistant Fire Chief.. or Ass Chief as we like to call him. Congrats!

The cold weather has sure came and set in
Which means its hot coco and raspberry fritter time. I NEEDED this because I knew that the day ahead held.. Thursday was our first snow day at work. RI-FREAKING-DICULOUS
There were NOT massive amounts of snow. What fell made the roads a mess.
Here is a little snippet of what we dealt with. It was crazy! 165 traffic accidents is a huge amount considering how many officers we actually have working.. and 480 calls in a 6 hour period is more than a call a minute for 6 hours straight.. which they really didnt start getting crazy til after 0830.
After that crazy snow day mom and I went out hunting. We saw a bunch of doe. There is one laying down in the snow.
She decided to get up just as I was trying to get a better picture
After that I picked Kennedy up from school and she said "MOM!! What did you do to our fall pumpkin??" I had no idea what she was talking about until I realized our white pumpkin turned orange!
View from our front yard east
I bought this adorable new sweater for K. JaNeale had bought her the leggins. I told her to wear this outfit for the day and she walked into my room wearing it and said "Really.. THIS is what you want me to wear?? A SWEATER?? No one wears a sweater now a days.. and leggins?? Are you crazy its cold and snowing outside. This outfit is not cute!!!!" She got the look and told me "Ok fine Mom.. I'll wear it just to make you happy but Im telling you its not a good outfit..."

So when she got home from school I asked her if anyone said anything about her clothes. She said she had 4 teachers compliment her outfit and kids told her all day long how adorable it was. Score one for mom.
On Saturday Chris and Todd were out at a County wide HazMat training. Todd is the HazMat coordinator for Box Elder county. I would have loved to go but I had craft day and Miss K. They had the Bomb Squad from HAFB there and did all kinds of fun things
Jana Me and Mom made countdown to Santa blocks. They turned out adorable!
Kennedy had her own crafts to work on too courtesy of Grandma Tammy
After that we waited for Chris at Janas. She was going to paint the basement and was just going to paint over all the wall paper. Its going to be a textured look so it wouldnt really matter its over the paper. Well as we are downstairs Chris pulls on a loose piece of wall paper and tears it all off.. which started us stripping ALL the wall paper off

After all that hard work it was dinner time. Kennedy was drawing on her place mat and drew the cutest picture of all of us hunting.
The she flipped it over and drew this....
little shit
Shes been crazy lately. She put on 3 beanies and was playing with the swan decoy. It was her pet.

Sunday morning Todd, Hunter, Chris, Miss K and I went out to the spur to go duck hunting. We had to bust ice the whole way out. We stopped way shorter than we wanted to go because the ice was so bad. We had to break out big piles of ice to create a landing area for the ducks
 Frozen solid

 The boys breaking ice

 Hunter
Searching for ducks. There were a ton flying but they were all west of us
Kennedy had 12 layers on and was wrapped up in a blanket eating a lunchable. She was set!
We had no ducks come in. Rue got bored and took a nap
After we got home Chris, Dad, Kyle and I went out deer hunting in the orchard. We saw some doe and a tiny itty bitty spike.  We let them go. As soon as we were driving back Taylor text and wanted to go deer hunting on the mountain. Kennedy wanted to stay and hang out with Grandma Chris.. its a good thing too because it was FREEEEEEEEZING and we went down some sketchy four wheeler trails

It was SO cold but so pretty

We had a crazy adventure. I love spending time with this guy! Even if I have to force him to take a picture

We ended up seeing just a bunch of doe. We were on our way back racing the sun setting when we spotted 2 doe and a tiny 2 pt buck. Its rut season now. I didnt want to shoot him since he wasnt very big. He was starring at something just ahead of us so we continued on where there was a doe and a good size buck. Full on in the rut. He was chasing her all over and she kept pushing him off. It took a few minutes to get close enough to them and to get them to hold still long enough to try and get a shot. Finally got an opportunity at 32 yards. I let an arrow fly and completely flat ass missed. I went under his belly. I was so shocked. I am not saying Im an amazing archer but 32 yards.... I should have hit him. I caught a rash of shit as soon as we got back for Sunday dinner. I took it assuming I had just gotten excited and missed.
Well Monday night was our normal range night so I took my hunting arrows with field tips up to the range just to make sure my bow was still on. I can accept if I just missed but something just was bothering me how off I was. So I flung some arrows down range and at 20 yards I was about 6 inches low. The further the yardage the more the arrows going to drop so 32 yards would explain why I was dropping about 8-10 inches at the deer and went below his belly. We played around with my bow and couldnt get the arrow to be on target. Finally we got to looking and noticed my serving string at my D loop and came unraveled which caused my D loop to slide up almost an inch.. which in turn changes where my anchor point is and the angle of my arrow on the rest.. Long story short I didnt completely suck it wasnt my fault I missed!  I had to sit the night of shooting out and watch every one else shoot. Miss K and I played on Pinterest so it wasnt too bad.

We took my bow to the Bow ER that night for some emergency surgery. Dad got it fixed up nice.
