Day 48-Cabin and Home

Sunday morning we slept in some
Had YUMMY biscuits and gravy for breakfast

Then decided to go out and play
Since moms sled had been having issues we just doubled up on one and left it at the cabin
It had snowed most the morning so there was fresh powder on top of the rest of the 4ft of powder
The snow didnt really have much hardness to it
You step off the sled and sink to your crotch
Dont let it fool you where it looks hard packed
Its not

The trail to the outhouse

We went to the upper half and played around by the pond
Chris had a heck of a time staying on his sled this trip!
This was about the only time he sunk his bad enough that he had to have help getting it out

We went a ways up on top past where we always see the moose
and then turned around and headed back down
It was like a game of musical chairs
Kennedy mostly rode with dad
But there were some parts mom didnt like to go on so I drove
and other parts she felt more comfortable driving on so I rode with Chris
I am not usually a good passenger because I like to drive but I braved it up and hopped on back with him

I lived
We made our way back down and to the flat
We played around there for a while
Climbing cell phone hill
Mom was headed up a hill and stopped and got stuck
Chris and I got her out
Then we played on the hill a while

Dad and Kennedy went around one point and got stuck
 Chris dug them out
We all converged at the top of cell phone hill
By this point Moms with me on Chris's sled
Kennedys with Chris on my sled
And Dads on his

Kennedy wanted to race the whole way back
She kept making Chris stop and race me :)

Kennedy and Chris
Mom
Dad
Dad hopped on Chris's with moms, I took Dads and we headed back to the cabin for lunch

Dad and Mom
Chris and Kennedy

We got back to the cabin
The boys played with moms sled some
Adjusting this, tightening that
His and hers sleds ha :)
I love this boy so much!!!!!!!
Gma and Kennedy coming back from the potty walk

Got it running and running good!
We had some snacks
Sat by the fire
Dad took a nap
Chris decided to go out and play and I wanted to go too
He went down off the hill
I wanted to get pictures of him going down and climbing up
But I made it about two steps and was in snow up to my hips
So I bundled up and went to play on my sled too
Cruised around by the cabin some
Came around a point where some snow had drifted up in a little ditch
I went to go through there and my front ski hit the bank and it stopped me and killed the sled
I was able to get the sled started and pulled the front skis out some but it didnt want to go anywhere
Chris came back around and had me turn off the sled
I stopped it and we started to move it around some
Sometime between the point where I turned it off and right after the primary and secondary clutchs froze up engaged and wouldnt disengage
We sat and messed with it for about an hour and a half
He could not get the clutches to disengage
Tore it apart
Nothing
When the clutches are engaged there is pressure on the track and thats what makes them go
They hit a certain rpm, in this ones case about 4000 rpms and then the clutches engage and make you go
With them being stuck you have to tip the sled on the side to get it to start so the track isnt on the ground
Normally that will disengage them, you can set it back down and go
Not this time
It was no go
So we finally decided to try and tow it
We were really close to the cabin, still on the property actually and semi close to a road
All we needed to do was make it to the road
We had to drive through the ditch to get there
So Chris drove his sled back and forth through there to make a path
It wasnt even anything I should have gotten stuck in the first place
He made it back and forth a few times no poblem

Well we got the sled hooked up
I had to push the back of the sled as he tried to pull it out
He has no rear mudflap so snow and dirt was flying like mad
We'd make it about 10 feet and either my sled would tip onto its side or his would dig down and get stuck
We finally got it to a place where there was no more trying
We were done
We went to get dad to help us push because we were spent and Chris wanted to grab some more tools to try and get it disengaged
Chris ran back down to the sled and I was going to ride with dad
His sled wouldnt start
SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!
These sleds have had NO PROBLEMS until this trip
None of them
Finally after about 10 minutes he gets his to
We go down to Chris.. try a few options.. none work
And are left with one choice
Cut the $100 belt thats on the sled because thats the only way we are getting it out before spring
So he cuts the belt
We are able to lift, pull and tow it out and up to the cabin
We decide we're done for the day
Lets pack up and go home!
Moms sled may or may not start
Mine cant be driven on its own it has to be pulled
So we pack everything and head out of dodge
Moms sled ran perfectly on the way out!
Dad took Kennedy with him and towed the ice sled with gear behind
Chris towed me
We made it to the trail head no problem
No ones sleds died
No one fell off
We shortened the tow strap and Chris had to fly up the ramps to pull up both sleds at once
Dad and I had to help push
We headed for home
Kennedy had to snuggle up with Daddy Chris
Even though it was a lot of work and things breaking we really did have a great time
It was a lot of fun and a good little get away!
