261-Phones and Shooting

I had been at work about an hour when we realized it had gotten really quiet.. which isnt too unusual at 7am but still was for it being a full moon. After a little looking we realized we couldn't make outgoing calls.. which actually affects us a lot. Cant callback 911 calls.. talk to people who have hung up on us.. call the complainant ... get an responsible party for a business etc. Then we realized our public safety lines weren't ringing in either they were just ringing busy. The 911 lines still worked so they could get through. Thankfully we have emergency center cell phones for just that case. About 8 they came to us who were on phones and said we need you to go to the back up center while we figure out whats going on. We have a back up center in another location that we can forward our phone lines too. It has our CAD (computer system) loaded on it and thats really about it. We can log into our phone system there too that has the electronic phone book in it so we at least can have all the numbers we give out or transfer people to. Four of us headed to the back up center and they figured it was going to be MAYBE 2 hours so we car pooled. Well when we get there they finally found the problem. The construction company once again at the temple cut the T1 lines.. which not only took out our public safety lines.. but other phone lines in the area. It took out about half of Ogden Police's business lines, the apt complex in the area.. By this time they've deducted we will be lucky to have it fixed within 12 hours... The back up center is nice because we do have the ability to work.. however the best way to describe it is like trying to work with one hand and half your resources. Its set up for emergency situations. The hard part is so many things you have normally being IN dispatch you dont. We had to use handheld phones.. so we didnt have our headsets.. and the phones are on your left side with a short cord.. so you have to type, navigate on your computer and enter in info while holding the phone

The other hard part is back in our center the radio dispatcher are dispatching and call takers are taking 911 calls. We are cut off from them basically.. we cant Outlook message them like normal because we dont have that.. we cant call them to talk to them... like which agency called this agency to send them out on an assist.. which officer was out dealing with this person etc. Things we normally send out a chat for or just ask the person whose handling you cant. You only can enter in a call. Cant even email them lol! For all the being it really went very well. It just took some adjusting, figuring out what we could or cant do, and changing how we do things!
All breaks were cancelled. They brought us drinks, pizza and bread sticks :) cant complain too much about that!
It made for a long day. Thankfully it was my 8 hour day instead of my 12!

Last night was also the Brigham City Employee Trap Shoot at the gun club. I had Kennedy grab a hoodie so she wouldn't get cold.. and she tied it around her shoulders.. shes too girly sometimes it makes me laugh
We went down to the Trap Club and ate some wonderful fried chicken and then shot a round. I shot once with Chris, Mike (Janas brother in law) and Bruce Leonard. Then the boys went and shot a few more rounds. There wasn't a ton of people who showed up but it was kind of nice
Kennedy was just so excited Morgan was there. She kept telling her you know you're my cousin right. Your dad is my grandmas brother in law. That makes you and I cousins

Shooting went from 5-7. Chris had fire drill at 7. Kennedy and I dropped him off and we went to get some frozen yogurt. She and I have the same favorite. Chocolate frozen yogurt with pieces of Grasshopper cookie in them! She will take that over gummy bears or sprinkles any day
Then we went to Todd and Janas to wait for everyone to get home. Todd was at drill with Chris and Jana was at Bunco. Chris is grounded..aka on call.. this week so he had to spend Wednesday night at his dads house. I had to be to work at 4am Thursday morning. We realized that he wouldn't be at home to overlap after I left and before the sitter got there so Kennedy needed to spend the night with him.. He had to stop at home on his way through to get his lunch and things anyways so it made the most sense. She cuddled on the couch and we watched Duck Dynasty (her favorite show) The dogs wanted to cuddle with her too. They love her. She says Bailey is her sister.
Kennedy slept on the couch and Chris told me the dogs watched over her all night. He got up this morning (he was sleeping in the room next to the living room) Meka started growling at him. She was at Kennedys feet and Bailey was laying on the floor like this at the side of Kennedy.

On the bright side you all appreciated your real office so much more the next day? Love the photos of the dogs with Kennedy, her night time guardians!
