279- Sunday Hunt

Sunday morning it was a lot warmer when we got up. It was 31 degrees. We pulled to the same spot to watch the sunrise

 We checked out a few places.. saw some elk but they were WAY too far away and we couldnt get to them. We brushed through a place by the cabin and nothing but deer came out. I watched one way and Kennedy watched my back for elk. 

We didnt see any and hiked back to camp. Kennedy (the little orange dot) was hiking up to Grandpa and Dad (the two bigger orange dots)

 We ate some breakfast, read some books, packed up camp and all our gear

Todd and Chris went to brush one hillside and Kennedy, Hunter and I waited at the bottom so they'd send whatever they found running out to us hopefully. We parked the truck where we were waiting and Kennedy took a nap. Its hilarious to me because at home she does not nap. Not at all. If you make her lay down she wont sleep. Shes not been a napper since she was like 3.. unless its hunting. 

 It took them about an hour or so to hike around the mountain and make it back to us. From there they dropped Hunter and I off at the thick pines by the camp. Todd and Chris headed back to get a few more things from the cabin. The pines are at a very steep angle and its mostly all shale rock. It eventually ends at the bottom of a ravine at the road. Hunter took the upper half and I took the middle.

We hiked all around to the bottom and didnt see anything. Todd and Chris met us at the bottom with the trucks. Kennedy was still asleep.  Todd and Hunter headed home. We drove around to New Canyon, over to Elk Valley and around. Kennedy had finally woken up 3 hours later. We didnt see anything else and only saw two elk in camps that people had got. One was one of Chris's friends who we hunted with a little last year. We made our way back around to the main road and headed for home. We made it to Todd and Janas just about 6 for Sunday dinner. Ash made lasagna and it was wonderful! We had full bellys, tired eyes and bodies and headed for home.. and a shower! We were all in bed by 8pm that night!
