361- Ice Fishing at East Canyon

Dad needed a little get away so we rearranged our plans we had and went fishing with him! We were going to have a girls day (me, mom, Elysha, Macee, Kinlie and Parker) but he needed to go fishing so we went with him. Mom, Parker, Elysha, Kinlie, Macee and Kennedy all went to the movies to see Dinosaurs in 3D. All the kids loved the movie and Macee even watched it with the glasses on.
Dad, Chris and I headed to East Canyon. We took the snowmobile and four wheeler but there werent any out on the ice so we werent too sure how thick it was. There were also some spots of open water in the center. There were a TON of people out there fishing. Mostly around the dam and on some of the little inlets. We went to Taylor Hollow. There is no ramp or place to launch from there, just a walking trail so we (Dad and Chris lol!) pulled the sled down with all the gear.

It was such a beautiful sunny day. It was really warm. We decided to not put up the ice tent. There was no wind. The sun felt great.
We picked a spot and dug the holes
I love ice fishing. Nothing makes me happier than this. Like my new PINK and SILVER Ugly Stick pole and Mr Jigger stand? We stopped at Sportsmans looking for meal worms. Dad decided Chris and I each needed a new pole and stand since we didnt have our very own equipment.
Chris enjoying the sunshine. He loves fishing about as much as he loves getting his picture taken haha! He just does both to make me happy.
 Dad caught the first fish.
I got a lot of cool 'action' shots of him pulling fish out of the hole
First fish in! Nice Rainbow trout
I got the next fish.. it was smaller and I would have put it back but it swallowed the hook a little too far so this one we had to keep.
 Our 'camp'

One thing about fishing with Dad, if hes not catching fish then there arent any in the water. He kept catching good fish after good fish.
The fishing stopped and the wind picked up. We put up the ice tent to get out of the wind. It makes all the water and pictures look green. This baby crapie fish swam up into my ice hole
 Another action shot

 and another...
 Thats a good looking fish!
In the end Chris didnt catch any fish :( He got two bites the whole time. We even tried to give him some of dads luck, he baited his hook and all for him but no such luck!
Not bad for a few hours fishing!
and those fish above get turned into this and put in the freezer
I love the feeling of being able to put food in the freezer with out having to go to the store!

When we got back Mom had fixed an amazing dinner with pork chops, potatoes and a veggie cheese tray. It was so good!
