East Canyon - Spring Break

Kennedy had an entire week off this year for Spring Break. Monday to Friday. So instead of trying to work out a babysitter and everything else Chris and I decided to take vacation and go out of town. We wanted to get our first camping trip in the camper out of the way and make sure we didn't need to fix anything. We made reservations for East Canyon from the Friday after K got out of school until the following Thursday.
We spent a good week or two getting the camper all packed and ready to go! I was so excited I couldn't wait.
We made pretty good time to camp. Got everything set up with dinner on the grill and camp drink in hand!
Rue LOVED camping. She is such a good camp dog. She hates being inside at home but did great sleeping in the camper. She stayed right at Chris's side. When she needed to go out at night she would either stand at the door and wag her tail (which it hitting the cabinets woke me up) or she would come stand at the end of my bed and wag her tail.
We had big plans to do a lot of exploring.. but we found out due to mud and snow they only had one 4 wheeler area open.. it still worked though we did a lot of exploring over there. Rue just rode in the back and loved it.

We went as high as we could in one spot before we had too much snow. We let the dog and kid out to play.

Chris was so excited to see how it handled in the snow and the beast did great!!

 She didnt have any fun...

Saturday afternoon Taylor, Kinlie, Parker, Macee and Elysha came up to spend the night.
These 3 hooligans ran wild! Kennedy took her scooter and bike and Parker and Kinlie brought their scooters. They rode ALL OVER the park, played at the park for hours, went on adventure hikes, blew bubbles and had a great time.

Elysha wanted to go for a side by side ride so we left the kids with the boys and took off
We hit the point of one hill and went for a little hike.. I had been dying to go shed hunting.
I ran into this cute little rabbit
and a nice 4 point shed
That tiny spec in the middle is me looking for more sheds
She found a skull and I found a shed. The boys were pretty jealous when we got back to camp.

When we got back they had dinner almost done. Steaks and grilled asparagus plus a pasta salad I made that morning. We all sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather
 Its a rough life

After that we broke out the dessert. Taylors mom made a layered Oreo cake that was amazing. We got out the gas fire pit and played some washers. Macee did NOT like the fire pit because it was too hot and kept trying to blow it out.
Rue has to be on a leash or chain up there so it made it a little harder for her to follow Chris around but she still managed.

 Macee loved all over her

The 3 kids all slept in Kennedy's bunk. Its a queen size so we just put them all sideways so no one fell off. They all fit perfectly! Macee and Elysha took one bed in the toy hauler and Taylor took the other. It was so awesome being able to have room for everyone and we still had 2 beds left unused!
The next morning my cute husband made everyone breakfast burritos. The rule is he does all the camping cooking. Its just how it is and Im ok with that because he does NO cooking at home. At all. Even though hes a very good cook. He hates cooking unless its camp cooking.
Moo opted out for Go-Gurt instead

Rue slept under my feet as we ate
It was MAYBE a whopping 55 degrees.. they all decided they needed to go to the pool and Elysha and Taylor took them. NO way it was too cold for me but the kids pool is heated. They were asking to put on their swimsuits five seconds after they woke up. Macee kept saying pool pool pool!! go swimming!
While they did that Chris and I went for a hike. We did a hike/walk every day of the trip (we had to hike off the amazing food ha!)
We started at camp, went up a trail by the 4 wheeler storage and across the mountain side until you hit the gate access to East Canyon Dam and then took the trial back.

They hung out for a little bit and then went home about noon.
We went out and explored some more

 Did some more hiking

Rue kept going to this bush when we were walking out. On the way back she ran ahead to it and was intently sniffing something. I caught just a glimpse of it as she went on point and saw she was nose to nose with a porcupine. I yelled at her and she thankfully listened. We were SO lucky we didnt spend the next few days pulling quills! The sucker was HUGE. Kennedy thought it was so awesome to see a ' real life porcupine' as she called it.

We had made a trip across Jeremy Ranch road to Walmart. We found a few things we needed for the camper. Its so weird having so much room! Chris bought me a Swiffer for the camper :) Im a freak and vacuumed every single morning while we were up there. It didnt help that Rue was shedding like crazy. We bought her a shed brush and brushed her at least twice a day. She was so funny. She got so excited when the brush came out and then she loved it so much she would lay down and fall asleep while you brushed her. I have never seen a dog act like that before.
We played lots of washers. Blew bubbles. Rode bikes and scooters all over. Hiked. Napped. Watched tv and movies. Ate way too much.
and of course made S'mores!! She loves that she can roast her own marshmallows now

Rue also had a rough life full of SO MANY stinking naps! Im on the couch, K's watching tv and coloring and Rues keeping guard sleeping.
There were so many deer all over!

One of our nightly walks. It started to turn cold and rainy about Monday night. The view of part of the resort from up top.
I got rained on shortly after this picture
Tuesday morning we tried our hand at fishing. I think I picked the coldest windiest day to go fishing.. Not only does Chris LOVE fishing.. he extra loves it when its freezing and windy hahahah. He was a good sport and didnt complain too much :)
I told Rue to sit and watch my pole for fish.. and she did!
We tried to teach Kennedy to cast.. but in the end Daddy had to do it for her.

She has my blood in her thats for sure. No matter how cold and windy it was she loves fishing. She wanted to catch a fish so bad (and I was really hoping hers would be the one with the bite!) but it didnt happen. Fish weren't biting at all
We climbed back up the steep embankment and headed back to the camper. She did NOT need any help because she is 'a climbing country girl'
When we got back to the warmth of the camper my little fishermen were tuckered out. Chris took a nap and Kennedy watched a movie in our room.
It pretty much stayed COLD and WINDY from this point out. Enough that we set up a play tent for her in the camper. She read in it, filled it with her toys and blankets and pillows. It was perfect.
Tuesday afternoon my mom and Kinlie came up for dinner. Chris cooked dutch over potatoes and trout.

The kids ran wild and played like crazy. Kinlie was so happy to be back up there and Kennedy was happy to play with her. There were a few other campers there and some kids that were staying in the condos so Kennedy still had kids to play with.
It was too cold and windy outside for us so we visited and watched some tv. Mom found a BigFoot documentary she loved.
Wednesday we did some more shed hiking. We didnt find any but had a blast.
 My hiking partner did great!
 We found three more porcupines!
and a herd of deer set up across from our trailer

JP came up for dinner that night and a sleep over. We had pork chops, mashed potatoes, and zucchini with mushrooms. Then I made a blackberry cobbler with ice cream.
We played Cards Against Humanity and then MarDee showed up for a few hours.
We had such a great trip! We packed up early Thursday morning and headed for home!!
