Growing

We had a momma and Kennedy cuddle night tonight. Watched Curious George and colored. All on her own Kennedy brushed her teeth (she hates brushing teeth) put on her pull up and jammies WITHOUT being asked!!!! She's been so sweet and well mannered and helpful tonight. I just love her so much!

Busy Wednesday.

Started the day off by getting my mom to the airport at 4 am to fly into Louisiana for the hurricane for FEMA. It's that time of year again for her. The moon was almost full and so neat looking that morning

Came home and Parker and Kinlie came over to spend the day while their moms worked. Our spare room has been so handy!!!! I wasn't sure if it was going to be useful or not. Oh man between Chris's brother when he comes up to visit, Liz, or Kinlie and Parker that room stays occupied. Those two had their cuddle stuff and wiggled down into bed.

We took Kinlie to kindergarten for her second day. Had some McDonald's. Aunt Jessys back seat was full!! They went home to their moms. I made peach jam. Cooked dinner. I used tr peach jalapeƱo glaze on the chicken. Mmmm!! Even Kennedy loved it.

Chris changed his oil and went to fire drill and thats when Kennedy and I went on our 2.5 mile bike ride/ walk!

Fruit fruit fruit

Oh all this fruit! And so much more to go!! This weekend I made peach jam, raspberry jam and strawberry jam

Also picked a ton of pears from my sisters tree and after they ripen some I will can them.

Pretty sure I see some fruit leather in the future too!!

Bike ride

We went for a bike ride last night. Kennedy wanted to go over and say hi to Aunty 'Sha. She hasn't ridden her bike at all this summer. We pedaled over there but she wasnt home so we took a picture and text it to her. Then we headed over to Aunt Ashes house. Visited for a minute. Derek gave Kennedy some water to put in her basket and we went home. Today i mapped it to see how far we actually went. Peanut pedaled 2.5 miles!!!! I was so proud of her

Temple open house

We had the opportunity to go to the Brigham City Temple Open house on Monday night. There were so many people there but we didn't have to wait in line very long. It moved pretty quickly. Pretty sure it happened to be Willard Stake night there too because I knew almost all of the ushers inside! It was very pretty.

You start out in the parking garage and go into a temporary room they've made. Watch a 12 minute video on temples and it explains the rooms you will see. They file you around and you get booties on your shoes so you don't track in stuff. Then the silent tour starts. I've never been on a silent tour before. It's all quiet. No talking. Just the shuffle shuffle of booty feet. I was amazed at how many people can't pick up their feet when they walk!!!! You Jp through certain rooms and they have posters explaining what you're going into and ushers at every turn and corner.

It was very pretty inside and some of the artwork was awesome!!!! It was really neat to be able to go through something so significant but so "hometown" at the same time.

Chris's family was about fifteen minutes ahead of us in line and after we all met at Taco Time for dinner. This was the first time I've ever got to see Chris all dressed up. I kinda liked it hehe

Cant wait to make salsa this week!!
I took a bunch of them and made a bag of slices and a bag of big dices to put in the freezer to keep throughout the year

Tomorrow is jam
I love love love fresh veggies and fruit
I love to can them and have them all year

Sunday work and shooting

Box Elder County Fair

We had Jimmy, Hunter, JaNeale, Ashley, Derek, and Ry-bug over for dinner last night
I made burgers, sauteed mushrooms and onions with garlic, noodles, bacon wrapped cream cheese stuffed jalapenos
For dessert was peach cream cheese pies with a whiskey peach glaze on top
I think out of everything the pies were the biggest hit!

After dinner we all headed out to the fair
Kennedy wanted to ride in the topless Jeep with Grandma JaNeale and Grandpa Jimmy
She loves riding in the Jeep
Crazy girl was hamming it up while I tried to take her picture
We walked around the fair a lot
Got drinks
Saw a lot of people
Ran into Todd and Jana
Kennedy wanted to pet a cow so they did
And then a pig
Rylee was content just hanging out and watching everything
She had her little foot propped up on the stroller and was ready to go
\
Kennedy ran into her little boyfriend from the fish fry in Garland
They went on a few rides together
JaNeale and I
I didnt even take that many pictures!?
I love fair lights and the looks of them at night
The fair always makes me think of the movie Charlotte's Web
I love when Henry Fussy asks Fern to go for a ride on the Ferris Wheel
Im a sucker for Ferris wheels and a little bit of a hopeless romantic
and yet I have never ridden on a Ferris wheel with a boy
Fairs also always mean the end of summer
School starts...weather changes..hunting seasons start..then winter
Its the last bit of summer fun

Dinner at East Canyon

Last night we all headed up to East Canyon to my parents archery camp for dinner
When we got there a neighboring camp was showing us some neat photos from their trail cams
Bear, deer, elk, coyotes, cougars it was awesome
Dad and Chris finishing up grilling and bbqing the chicken
We all sat down for a family dinner
2 different sauces, corn on the cob from a local farm.. (a lady at works kids were selling it and it was wonderful!) and Barton macaroni salad
Fresh picked peaches, whipped cream and angel food cake for dessert
Dad gave Jana and Todd a tour of the area
We broke out the fire pit and cuddled up in blankets and hoodies around the fire
It was actually pretty cold outside
Fall is definitely in the air and coming!
There was this adorable blonde haired bouncing curls girl from a camp next door named Bella who sat and played with Kinlie and Kennedy
She fit right in with the girls and they had a blast
Kinlie fell asleep on Grandmas lap
Kennedy was out the second she hit the truck and so was Chris
We didnt make it home until midnight but it was a fun night

Food

And what kind of weekend blog post would it be if I didnt share some food!??
I did a lot of cooking!!!
I took pork chops and pan seared them
Put them in a pan with vidalia onions layered on the bottom
Then coated them in a apricot glaze
I took apricot jam, reduced it down in a pan, added a little cayenne pepper and lemon rum
Let it boil and then put it on top
I put them in the over at 275 to bake for two hours til they were nice and tender with a sweet glaze
Before I coated them in the pan I took a small container and filled it full of the sauce for dipping afterwards
I had never made this before so I wasnt sure how the glaze was going to turn out
Then for dessert I made from scratch an applesauce spice cake with cream cheese frosting

I made stuffed peppers too
Took chicken breasts, chopped and cooked them in lemon pepper
Steamed rice and added some colby jack cheese
Mixed together and stuffed the peppers
Baked til they were tender
Oh and how about some cilantro cream cheese scrambled eggs with a hint of garlic to go with the french toast and bacon
And I may have made more raspberry granola bars and no bake breakfast treats

I really am loving cooking so much more
All these lately besides the spice cake I've made with out a recipe
Just decided to start throwing things together
I have a few other things I want to make and I cant wait for some time to do it!

Room and haircut

This weekend I finished getting the rest of the house pretty much put together
This is our spare bedroom
I absolutely LOVE this shelf
You cant really tell but the top of the shelf is a bunch of OLD fly rods and reels
Its got so much character
Kinlie and Liz spent the night for fun
It works out good now that we have a guest room!
I made everyone breakfast
Silly girls were having a blast
Then it was tub time!
They played for a good hour
They were showing me here how they can dunk their faces and hold their breath under water
That's an important thing to be able to do when you are a mermaid
Liz is watching Kennedy for me while I work this week
Her and Kinlie are so excited to play together
HOWEVER Kennedy informed me that Liz is NOT BABYSITTING her
She is big kid sitting her
She is not a baby anymore
She is 4 and she sleeps in a big kid bed
We also had to do a little shopping..
and cookie buying..

Chris needed a haircut again this week and asked me to do a mohawk
I doubt he will be able to make it the rest of the week with it because believe it or not hes too proper for something like that
Hes good to start with it for the shock factor for a minute but is already talking about cutting it off
At first it was.. don't leave any hair in the back so I can hide it with a hat so my dad doesn't see it
Then it was I need to have this cut off by Friday before we see your dad or hes going to shave it off for me
Here's the finished cut!
I actually kind of like it!
Me, Liz and Chris went on a little road trip
Kennedy was at a birthday party with Hailey for Brooklynn
