A burning love

Valentines day this year was simple.
Kennedy had school, Chris worked and I went for a hike and grocery shopping.
That night we went down to the duck club to set traps before we went to the archery range and shot. The ducks, geese and pheasants are getting close to laying time and soon the geese will be molting which makes them easy prey. There have been a lot of skunks and raccoons down at the club and they feast on the eggs and birds.
There were birds flying all over when w headed down there. You can see two geese taking off in the mountain line and birds all over the skyline.

Those arent dirt smudges on your computer screen theyre birds!
We set up a live trap.
and I made Chris take the obligatory V-Day selfie
We went to the archery range to shoot after and made it home about 845pm after running a few errands. Chris was in the shower and I just walked into the bathroom to pee when the tones went off for a structure fire in Brigham (we are automatic aid for them). Next thing I know naked Chris is jumping out of the shower with shampoo in his hair and the water still running yelling wait for me! He got dressed in record time.. well partially dressed. He came running out to the car with his pants undone, belt in his hands and holding a t shirt. Im just letting you get the full picture of our exciting lives. We were the first in the truck and ready to roll. Our awesome VOLUNTEER fire department was en route with in TWO minutes of the tones dropping.
We could see smoke from quite a ways out and knew we had a fully involved fire.  Some of these pictures are mine and others were taken from news article and Facebook. Obviously flame ones I didnt have time to take, we were a little busy trying to save a house.

We were tasked with putting out the TWO vehicles that were on fire in the driveway. The fire started in the garage and it was gone. Chris is in the red helmet and Im in the black helmet at the vehicles.

The rest of these are my pics
Inside the garage with the roof collapsed

We brought up our cascade system so we can refill air bottles for SCBA's. Chris and Lynn refilling bottles. At this point we had the fire out and were rehabbing and working on some overhaul.

Thats the roof of the garage collapsed in on itself. Normally there would be a garage door there.

I made him take a picture to celebrate our Valentines day night. We got home from the fire just before midnight. Thankfully mom was able to go hangout with Kennedy while she slept just in case. Kenendy knew we were leaving so she locked the door and put herself to bed haha. She is pretty used to this routine.

Willard Canyon Hike

Being in Vegas where it was so warm and sunny really made me want to be outside.  Coming home, even though it was freezing I decided I wanted to go hiking Tuesday. I left about 10am and headed up Willard Canyon. Its a hike I wanted to do last year but hate rattlesnakes...and its right along the river. I figured I should get it done before those jerks come out.
It was still a little cold.
 But the views were amazing

I found this cool bridge and was thankful it was there. All the log crossings were covered in ice.
Its actually sturdier than it looks. I crossed it twice.

and I found out my boots were really waterproof like they said. I had to cross this twice and another spot lower in the water too.
The river was running UNDER the snow. It kept peeking out in places.

530 feet in elevation. I started out at about 4500 feet
It was kind of ominous walking across the snow knowing how fast the river was rushing under it.
I beat the sun up the mountain.  Willard bay is all iced over.

It was a perfect hike!

Flooding

We heard all about the massive water levels while we were gone and all the places that were flooding. We decided when we got home to go for a little drive (as if we hadnt been in the car enough) to go see the river levels.
This is at the Bear River boat launch in Corinne. Its came up so much! You cant fit under the bridge. Normally Chris can stand and we can still clear it. The waters clear up the ramp more than Ive ever seen and its coming over the banks.

Its hard to tell but its right up to the banks at the road and you can see its spilled over the other side. Plus the water was moving FAST.

Next we checked out the Bear River Bridge. I couldn't believe how high the water was!

You can see its way out of the banks
