Friday we got slammed with calls. Starting from 2pm-6pm we had 8 calls. 8 freaking calls for a volunteer department. It started with a truck fire and just kept going. We had car accident after car accident. The funniest part is the previous accidents WERENT causing the next ones! And all but one call was on the freeway.. with all the stupid horrible construction. No one yields to emergency vehicles at all. It took us 20 minutes to make it 4 miles on the freeway.
We didnt even finish paperwork on one call before the pagers went off for the next. One of the State Fire Investigators was at our dept to teach a HazMat refresher class. He wanted to come take some pictures of our calls. He didnt follow us on the freeway because it was ridiculous traffic of course. One accident they were able to move the cars off to Flying J parking lot and we met them there. It was as minor one and no one went to to the hospital.
While we were on call #7 and on the freeway we got another call for a big accident on Hwy 89. Chris responded to that one and I was still on the freeway dealing with that one!
