Hardy Barn Fire

Friday morning there was a hay barn fire in Honeyville/Bear River area. Its kind of between the two. Chris was paged to go out with the county right as it was first starting. They paged Willard to assist about 2 hours into it. Tammy and Steve were nice enough to take K so I could go play. Hay fires burn forever and create so much smoke! Some of these pictures were before I got there. Once we arrived I was pretty busy until I got sent to rehab.

They used trackhoes and loaders to pull out the hay once the fire had cooled down some. We sprayed the piles as they were pulling it out and kept the exposures cooled down. It was so smokey. I had sunglasses and my visor down and my eyes were streaming tears.
Dave and I were tasked with the north side.
The IC and Todd who was running Operations
These were taken while I was in rehab..aka time out

Operations (Todd) discussing plans with Logistics (Chris)
Todd was wearing Tiffanys pink camo helmet. I think he did it just so he could be the guy in pink ha!
Chris was out there since about 11 and we arrived about 1:30. We didnt get home until after 7pm. It was a long hot day! 100 degree temps plus fire in turn outs..We were a sweaty mess. The state Fire Marshall happened to be in the area with his camera so he stopped and took a bunch of pictures. He said he would make us a disc. I cant wait to see them!

Fire Dept Projects, End of First Swim session and building chicken plucker

This week we have been so ridiculously busy! Tuesday night we didnt leave fire drill until almost 10. We were busy working on stuff at the station. Wednesday after swim lessons we went back so Chris and I could work on a few more things. We fixed one fan, tore apart another, put in new lights so we could see and he ran and drilled some new air lines. Kennedy was loving helping. She was telling us how she needs a sticker that says "My moms a firefighter, my dads a firefighter and Im going to be a firefighter!" Her favorite part of the fire station is the Popsicles.  She takes a cup of ice and sticks a popsicle in the top so it melts down into it as she eats.
She kept saying she was a hard working firefighter

Thursday was the end of her first half of Level 3 swim lessons. I always do 2 sessions a year. The last 10 minutes they get free time on the final day. She went down the big slide.
As I was waiting to get a picture of her coming down cute Nash walked in front. Right after I took his picture he turned around and gave me his best 'come at me bro' face/glare and then turned around and walked off. I was laughing so hard.

2 weeks down 2 weeks to go!
Thursday night and Friday night were spent putting together a chicken plucker late into the night.
I supervised. We had just finished irrigating the day before so the ground was still super wet.
My dad got an old swamp cooler and Chris tore the motor out. To buy a chicken plucker is almost a $1000. Chris and Dad watched some YouTube videos and put together this idea. All said and done we were into this one $250 and lots of man hours! Thursday and Friday night we didnt get done til almost 11pm both times.

We still had to tear parts apart and replan some of it Saturday morning to get it to work right.

First Irrigation, New gate, Sprinkler and Dinner on the patio

Tuesday night we cleaned the station and got everything ready for the upcoming 4th of July celebrations. We've painted the flagpole, repainted all the parking lines, backing lines, parking bumpers, concrete pillars ... We've been busy! Chris installed an air hose reel in the top of the rafters.
Rilee came up to get some shooting help with her bow. It ended up needing some fine tuning mechanically so we had to take it up to Dad. Then he took over the lesson
We had our first irrigation day finally. The dogs were loving the backyard being soaking wet. Our grass sure needed it too! We dont ever water our grass at all except with irrigation water.

Liz's father in law rents the piece of property right next to Todd and Janas house for his horses. They were installing a gate for Jana to go in and brush the horses and to make watering a little easier. Koree was on the tractor with Grandpa Tyler.
While they worked Koree, Klint, Kinlie and Kennedy all came in Grandma Jana and Grandpa Todds house to eat lunch and hang out. The boys sat outside and had their man time. It cracked me up when I looked outside and saw them all gathered around the project supervising.
Nothings better when youre a kid than a sprinkler under the trampoline! We turned it on for K for about 10 minutes while dinner was finishing up.

Since she was wet and the weather was decent in the shade I decided we needed to eat dinner on the pack patio. I got out lawn chairs, used paper plates for the sloppy joes and fries and put cut up watermelon in plastic cups to make it easier. I told her to smile and this is what I get...
The chickens are always out except at night. They just wander the yard and sometimes follow us around. This one decided she wanted to try Miss K's sloppy joe
We finally got our garden planted. The whole thing had grown into one big weed pile. We had to weed the whole thing before we could start. Thankfully we had just irrigated the day before so the ground was nice and moist still.
The skies were nice and pink!
I just love sitting in our backyard (minus the mosquitoes)

Kennedy and Kinlies Play Dates

Grandma Chris took Kennedy for some playtime on Wednesday. She had Kinlie and thought the girls would like to play together. Each of the girls made tote bags. Kennedys is a hunting bag on one side complete with a deer and a gun and a pool bag on the other side
It was getting time to take K to swim lessons and Kinlie didnt want to go. She asked if they could have a sleep over. I was off the next day and we didnt have anything going so we said sure!
We sat poolside and watched her lessons. There is only one other kid in her class and it happens to be some family friends. It worked out perfect!
After swimming we went home and had dinner. Chris had talked Taylor into going with him to an Elders Quorum event. They were trap shooting at the Ogden Bay Trap Club so it was just us girls at home! We went and got Perry Ice.
We were going to let them sleep on the trampoline (honestly we didnt figure they would make it past 10pm in the dark) but a storm was coming in that night so they had to sleep inside. That next morning was running errands. We had to go to Sams Club and get a hotdog after, to Winco and then home where they were great at helping me unload all the groceries and put everything away. They played for hours and it was time for Kinlie to go home since she had a softball game that night and Kennedy had plans.
That next morning I get a call from Liz asking if Kennedy wants to go to her house for the day and play. They were maybe going to go to the splash pad and play in the sprinkler in the backyard. Kennedy was all for it. She put on her swim suit and we packed her an extra set of clothes just in case. Kyle went bowfishing and the girls stopped by to visit.
and get ice cream... I figured by this point I wasnt getting K back (which is partly why I packed her extra clothes) She wanted to stay at Kinlies for the night and that was fine with us.
The next morning Liz sent me a picture of Kennedy holding a dead snake. I hate snakes and she normally does too
She came home that afternoon thankfully snake free. The girls have made good use of summer vacation so far!

The end of 1st Grade

Kennedy at the beginning of 1st Grade
Last day!
This is the last year she will go to the same elementary school! Because there are so many kids Willard is only Kindergarten and First Grade.
Which also makes it the last year we get to walk home from school together! We have been so spoiled with her going to school just a block away from the house. Next year she will have to ride the bus.
Little side story.. We were in Walmart and she found these sunglasses she told Chris she HAD to have. They were just like his and she needed them. So of course he bought them for her. She told the cashier she needed those sunglasses so she could look just like dad. She was going to go home and put on a hat and wear them on top of the hat and be just like him.

East Canyon Resort-First Weekend of Summer Vacation

Thursday night we packed up and headed out of town for the weekend. It was a great way to kick off the start of summer vacation! Kennedy was missing the last day of school on Friday but its not like they do anything but run wild anyways. She was super excited to head to East Canyon. Its one of her favorite places to go. She had her kids buckled in and was ready.
One great thing about ECR is that my parents know almost everyone there. Our good archery friends and their family were parked right across from us. My parents and Phil were just up from us, Todd and Jana were just across the ways, my parents neighbors were just down the road from us. We were all in the same little loop. Kennedy rode her scooter for hours around the loop stopping and visiting with everyone she knew.
We had a nice spot with the river and walking trail right behind us.
Mom had her humming bird feeder out and they were swarming in like crazy. This one had the coolest fuchsia neck!
Friday morning Todd, Dad and I took the boat out and went fishing on East Canyon. Mom and Dad had been fishing it all week and had done pretty good.
I almost caught the first fish.. I had one hooked on the line and it was a fighter. I got it right to the end of the boat and it spin and spit the hook and was gone. Not much later Todd got the official first fish in the boat

After a while of not getting anything else while anchored Dad trolled us around the lake. It was so cold and windy! We were freezing. Dad got one almost to the boat and it spun and spit the hook out too.

Todd caught one more fish and that was it. Fishing was pretty slow. We were cold and nothing was biting so we headed for the boat ramp. The skies turned nice and bright blue and sunny.. and then it started raining on us.
We headed back to camp and had lunch. The skies stayed blue. I promised Kennedy we would go swimming this weekend but who would have thought in the first week of June it wouldnt be warm enough!? She worked on catching humming birds instead.
Friday night Todd and Jana made a dutch oven roast and cheesy potatoes and then we headed into Ogden to the Dee Events Center. Chris's cousin Jess was graduating from High School.
These girls watched movies and sat on my lap while we were waiting for her to walk across.
Finally it was her turn! Congrats Jess!
We headed back to camp and got there just after 10.
Saturday morning Mom and Dad had to go to a work party for their hunting hours. Me, Chris, Kennedy, Todd and Jana went into Park City to hit some yard sales and go to Walmart. There is a cut off road that takes you down Jeremy Ranch Road and past Mormon flats into Park City and it takes about 15 minutes from ECR. The yard sales sucked. No one had anything decent however we did find Kennedy some books for the summer. She has been loving the Goosebumps and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I told her I would work on finding her some Babysitter Club ones also. I used to have the whole collection of Goosebumps and Baby sitter club when I was younger.
The nice thing about ECR is we have full hook ups and cable. So we had some lunch and watched a little tv
Elysha, Parker, Macee and Tyler showed up not long after we got back. It was Parkers 7th birthday. We bought him a little skateboard.  This is Kennedys new bff for the weekend Bella. Her parents were camped just down from my parents and these girls were inseparable.
The girls went and rode their scooters and Parker skateboarded with them.
MaceeMoo wanted to try out her brothers new skateboard

The weather finally warmed up some. Elysha wanted to got to the pool and we were headed fishing. We dropped Kennedy off with her because really pool time wins in her book

Chris, Todd, Jana, Phil and I went to the shore to fish. The weather was nice at camp.. a whole 1 minute away but the shore was SO windy. It was horrible. Trying to cast it just blew your line back

There were no fish biting. The wind was awful so we packed up after about an hour and headed back
Jana and I had thrown the ribs and chicken in the smoker for Dad before we left to go fishing and they were ready after we took a little nap and of course once the horse race was over too. We had smoked ribs, smoked chicken and pasta salad for Parkers birthday.

Since it was his birthday he went around the circle and told everyone he needed his birthday spankings

Then he wanted a turn trying to catch humming birds. He had two land on his hands for a second.
It was getting windy so we had to block his candle with the trailer and door. We had great cake and ice cream.
 Moo loved it!
Then it was time for washers. Chris and I were on fire!

 and Macee wanted a nap

The wind and a horrible rain, lightening, thunder storm rolled in and was there for the rest of the night. Chris has Kennedy convinced that thunder is God bowling and when he gets a strike lightening happens. The next morning the skies were clear and the water was great. Todd, Jana, Dad, Phil and I went out shore fishing for a few hours. The weather and conditions were perfect for fishing.. and we didnt get a single bite!! Not one of us...or the boats out on the water or the people across the shore from us. The fishing sure sucked this weekend but its still better than being at work!
Kennedy and Bella were sad they had to say goodbye. Hopefully we will run into her another time.
We loaded all the trailers and trucks and our convoy headed home! Another fun family vacation in the books!
