Eric Church Concert

Saturday was the much awaited Eric Church concert. We had our tickets forever it felt like. Todd and Jana planned a special grandkids sleepover for Kennedy and Ry so we didnt even have to get a baby sitter! It was perfect. We were going with Chris's mom and Jimmy. We dropped K off and headed to SLC.
We ate dinner at WingNutz and headed to Energy Solutions Arena. We had done our pack test that morning so walking the long ways from the parking lot was rough on Chris and I!
We had to get our pictures and Chris HAD to wear his boots. We went to 3 different stores on Friday to find one shirt that would match is boots.
 Jimmy and JaNeale
The place was PACKED. The entire night people were stopping Chris to compliment his boots. I lost count of how many people he had to pose for them to take pictures of them. He was talking to one guy he knew and he had people all around starring and a bunch of girls got their picture taken with him and those damn boots. He was LOVING it. If it wasnt his boots they were complimenting on his mustache. I just cant take him anywhere.

The opening act was a screamo rock band called Halestorm.
They werent too bad and were really a lot of fun to watch.
After that it was time for them to set the stage for Eric Church
We waited and waited and no equipment was coming on stage. We ran out to get a tshirt and when we came back still no equipment on stage. There was a rumor going around that the band was sick and they were going to reschedule. We were bummed and hoping we would still get a show.
Finally after about an hour the lights dimmed and he came onto stage.
Alone.
He played one song and then told us the ENTIRE band and crew had norovirus. They were very sick. Sick enough there was no one to set up the stage, put up lights or the electronic boards, bring out equipment or to play with him. He said he was going to play a few songs and they were coming back on Memorial Day to play a full concert for all of us for free. Just to hang onto our tickets and they would be back!
His idea was to just sing a few songs however he got way into it. We had almost a full 2 1/2 hours of just him acoustic. It was amazing. Just him on the stage with his guitar and nothing else. He had a bass guitar come out for one song and then he ran off the stage to puke. His crew that were handing him guitars all had masks on and had to keep running behind the curtain.
We have saw him 2 years ago and his concert was great. We said we would have to make sure and see him when he came back to Utah... Now after seeing this show Im really not sure he can top this acoustic performance! It was that good. The crowd was loving it. PLUS we get a bonus free full concert in a few months! Best money Ive spent on tickets!

If youve ever been to one of his shows he has a song called "These boots" and during the song everyone holds up their boots and sings along. This was the moment Chris was waiting for all night long. An extra time to show off his Tenny Lamas. People all around us were cheering him on. We had to get a picture with our boots.

We danced the entire night. I cant wait to spend my dirty 30 bday at his concert in May!
