4th Annual Golden Spike 3d Shoot

Our last week has pretty much been consumed with the shoot. The week before we loaded up all the 3D animals and ply wood. We also loaded the trees on one of the trailers. Kennedy took pictures at the storage sheds.

She also helped carry all the animals she could lift. We put all ages to work.

The next Friday was set up. We started at 9am. This is how the arena looked when we started

Then the work began. I didnt take any picts for quite a while because we were busy!!
We have to get all the trailers unloaded. Targets put roughly where they go. Trees out. Stakes in the trees. Target lines out. Blinds and shooting stands out. Number stands out. Get the orders organized and make sure all the shots are clear and safe. It takes  A LOT OF WORK!
We added a canoe this year! I love it!
We also have to put out all the bow racks, sponsor signs, decorations, get the office set up...

We finished on Friday around 5pm!
We were tired and had to be back at 7am the next morning to start the shoot. We had people lined up ready to start (the shoot doesnt start til 9am!) By 9 we already had over 60 shooters registered!

The office crew working hard registering shooters, selling raffle tickets, running shooter cards to the announcer
We have a yearly tradition of firing the opening shot. This year our awesome County Commissioner who really supports our club came to try his hand at a traditional bow. Him, Dad and Phil took the first shot.

and we were ready to begin!
We had vendor booths set up

Registration ran steady all day

Further on in the afternoon we had our chance to shoot.
Todd, Jana, Chris and I shot together and Phil, Kailee and Taylor were in the group right next to us. You are only allowed 4 people per group to keep the line moving fast.

The 70 yard shot to the caribou
Jana rocked it this year!! Todd, Chris, Taylor and I shot for money (aka competition) and Phil, Kailee and Jana shot for fun. Jana got her highest score ever in 3D and was doing amazing! She even hit the caribou at 70 yards.
After we shot it was back to work selling tickets!
Elysha helped Todd and I
Mom and Dad were able to shoot after we took over their jobs
Curtis and Sarah Joy shooting
We finished up the night and were home about 8:30pm. We were exhausted. The next day I was scheduled to work a 12 hour shift. I worked til noon and we had so many people and were so slow I flexed some time and left at noon. We were slammed at the shoot. The first day we had 275 registered shooters. Saturday we ran from 9-5pm. Sundays hours are 9-3 since we have to tear down afterwards. We helped for a while and then had a chance to shoot. Taylor Chris and I shot together. Mom, Dad, Phil and Danny shot behind us.
Taylor BARELY made this one in the foam.. like by the skin of his teeth!

Danny and Phil

Taylor shot the best. Then Chris and I was right behind Chris. The first day Chris and I both shot a score of 504 (which was our competitive round) the second day we shot for fun. I shot the same exact score.. again. 504. Chris improved and shot a 508.
Kinlie spent Saturday night at our house. She spent all day Sunday at the shoot too with us having fun and helping. Kennedy was in heaven.

Wynn "Bears Butt" Zundel shooting the carp
and at the raffle shoot
The scores were posted Monday night.
Dad took 1st and Todd took 2nd in their class (they were the only two in it :)
Mom took first in hers.. and she was the only money shooter in it

Chris placed 2nd in the 3rd flight and won money too

and then the craziest results I have ever seen..
I placed FIRST in my class. I have NEVER placed 1st. I was slightly disappointed to see that only 3 girls dared compete in BHFS

Our shoot was amazing!! We ended the second day with 276 shooters. That means our grand total was 551 shooters! Record number shoot for us! It was so awesome! Thanks to all those who helped and made it so great! We're really going to have to step it up for the 5th annual next year!
