2011 Spring Fire Ride

This years Spring Fire Ride started out at Unified Fire in South Salt Lake. We had to be down there by 10 am. The morning started off raining on and off. We were worried it would continue on. The skies stayed grey and we decided to chance it. We made it down there and at 400 e they had the roads blocked off for a marathon. We needed to get to 700 e and had about 2 min! Some nice officers let us cut through the race when there was an open spot. We'd gone for blocks searching for a way through. Due to the race they postponed leaving until 1030 and had to reroute us.

Headed to the Midvale Fire Station
We blocked our own traffic. We didn't have any escorts this time.
We had a bunch of people still. Probably 100 or so. But the weather kept a bunch from coming. Fair weather riders!

Next we rode clear from Midvale to the Clinton Station. It was a long ride and mostly down 1-15. Some how there were two bike groups that merged on the freeway and a few of us ended up following a biker group to the VFW in Clinton. Thankfully one of us who accidentally followed knew how to get to the station and somehow we beat everyone else there???

Group picture the Chief at Clinton asked me to take so he could submit it to a few fire magazines. They'd opened the bays so we could park there and had cookies and drinks for us.
The next stop on the ride was Riverdale Fire and then the Harley Shop. They were running about an hour behind schedule and we were tired and hungry. So we left to head home and skipped Riverdale and Harley. I had told Joe I would pick Kennedy up around 1 and was already after 1. We stopped in at the drill tower and said hi to my dad who was finishing up his cert class.

My mom on her bike. She sure took off her training wheels after this ride! She rode in the rain. Rode on the freeway. Rode past 65mph and in a group! She had a blast doing it too!
