Fire on the Bay

Saturday afternoon Willard Bay was planning on having a Fire on the Bay celebration. Full of booths, fireworks and food. Friday night we had to go down and prep burn the area. We needed to burn off the area we were going to shoot fireworks from to lower the fire chance.

My job was to drive the truck slowly through the black. They had a hose line off the front of the truck and one off of the back.

Saturday night we needed to be down there at 6pm. We started setting up the cannons and wiring them up. Its such a long process. We had just under 400 fireworks to light off.

The views skies were so pretty. The water was full of boaters and jetskis.
Miss K had a blast. She was sad she couldn't help with fireworks. A few of the other peoples kids were there too so we put them in a safe place and let them run.

These are the 2nd and 3rd generation firefighters ready to take over! They were playing fire fighter and it was so cute.

Fireworks all wired and ready to go!
Todd and Jana and Chris and I took 2 brush trucks over to the north marina for fire watch. We had trucks set up where we were lighting but needed eyes across to watch for flare ups. We were about 1 minute into the show when a small fire started below.
Chris and I had to hurry over and help. We got the fire put out and Chris and I stayed down right below the fireworks while they finished up in case we had any more flare ups.
Doug stayed with us too
The fireworks ended and when thats over you have to check the cannons for unfired rounds. We had an entire rack plus a few spares that didnt go off so we had to light them by hand.

Rod wanted a selfie. He said this made it the prettiest picture of the night.
