Week 25- Gypsy, bowfishing, hurt ankle and first hike

So remember how we said we were still getting another puppy even though we had just got one... Well we did lol! Meet Gypsy. She is 7 weeks and snuggly and adorable and a little sweet heart. Kennedy carries her everywhere she goes like a baby and wont put her down. Gypsy just tags along with us. We let all 3 dogs out to play while we are in the backyard and she stays at our side while the other two play together.
Shes just so TINY! We put her in Rues kennel with her for a little bit while we ran into town. Gypsy has her own but they were playing so we left them together. She needed a drink. It was so cute! She had her paws in the water just a drinking.
Taylor was having a rough day. His cousin had just passed away unexpectedly that afternoon. We took him out for the night to help him feel better. He had been talking about wanting to go bow fishing so we loaded up and headed down to the bay. The weather wasnt good enough but we figured it got him out of the house. His mom was glad we came and stole him. The water was rough and the visibility sucked.
There is a nasty canal along the bay where there are carp too so we checked over there.
Kennedy was the official seashell collector and carp spotter for the boys. We didnt find any carp. We capped off the night with Chinese food and a movie.
Wednesday night we had a late softball game. 8pm! It was cold and nasty. We played really well and almost won. Taylor came to cheer us on. We were in the last inning.. two outs.. Chris was on first running to second and the batter hit the ball just to the short stop so Chris slid into 2nd base. When he slid the toe of his cleat caught and twisted his ankle back under his body... and he got out which ended the game. It was bad enough he had me help him walk off the field IN FRONT OF PEOPLE! Chris may hurt himself but there are two things he doesnt do #1 show it or #2 go to the Dr. Him having to have help walking off the field was a big deal. We headed home and stopped at his dads for an ice pack. We made it home probably 45 minutes after he injured it. It had swollen and we figured most of the swelling had stopped. Kennedy helped him walk inside and got him some IBprofin.
Then Taylor wrapped his foot. Taylor was big into baseball in high school and is an expert wrapper. Thats a good friend right there to wrap sweaty stinky softball feet.
It was killing Chris. Throbbing and hurting so bad. We iced it top and bottom. About 15 min after he wrapped it he had to put relief cuts in it because it had swollen so much. About another 15 min after that..while it still on heavy ice we had to put more relief cuts in it. His toes were turning purple.. and not long after that we had to just take it off because it had swollen so huge. He was actually talking about going to the doctor in the morning.
But we both know that didnt happen! He went to work instead where he could barely squeeze on his boot.
He only worked a short day and came home. We had irrigation. Even with the pump going we had so much water! The people before us didnt take it and we normally have half a ditch.. we had a whole ditch this time.
The dogs LOVED playing in the water. Gypsy played for a little bit and then got cold so we wrapped her up in a towel on the back porch and she was out. She slept for hours.
This was Chris's ankle TWO Days later! We teased him about his cankle.
Its not hurt.. it looks just fine right... Sigh boys...
On Saturday Todd and I planned a hike into an area we want to hunt my elk tag at. Chris and Jana both couldnt go because they were on call for work. We left Kennedy with Chris. Im glad we did. Todd picked me up at 5 am and we had about a two hour drive to the one spot to park at. From there we had a pretty good hike. We had on big packs with a lot of crap in them. We had to take in trail cams and camera boxes and cables to hook them up with and drills etc. They were stinking heavy!
Once we put the cameras up they were considerably lighter. We hiked all over in the area looking for signs, different spots, natural blinds etc. Dont mind his leg.. he got stabbed by a tree.
Sorry but the areas super secret so all you get is some vague pictures of us and some trees that could be anywhere ha! I learned all the Richards family hunting secrets while we were in there.

We ran into a lot of places still with a bunch of snow. This was one of the smallest snow piles we had to go through

We hiked our butts off. We were TIRED! My feet hurt so bad afterwards (plus spending hours the day before in turnout boots didnt help...) I have good hiking boots but with that added weight and hard hiking we did Im pretty sure I am going to go buy some gel inserts. My front soles of my feet are swollen today.

Dad and I at the end of our hike. We made it and didnt die! Woo hoo! When I first picked up the pack I thought there was no way in hell I can make this with all this weight. But I did and it wasnt too bad. I cant wait to go back in next weekend and see what we found!
After I got home from the hike I had time to shower and go help Chris finish putting up the tin on the wood shed. Kennedy went with Kinlie to spend the night. I made dinner and then Chris and Taylor wanted to go out bowfishing. The water was too stirred up from all the boats out there so I knew visibility would suck... so I took along my fishing pole too.
 The boys patiently waiting

We had no carp and no fish biting my line!
