288- IO and ET

Tuesday Chris was on call for BCFD so it was just me and peanut for a while til her dad got her for an hour or two. We made taco salad for dinner
While we were eating I saw some people walking up onto our lawn. Our cute neighbors the Wrights came over to introduce themselves and bring us some cookies. It was very sweet of them!
Duke the attack dog was very upset about people coming to our house. He was on watch the whole time
After Kennedy left it was time for fire drill in Willard. We had a fun night practicing IO's. Its an iv method you use if you cant find/use a vein. Usually the pt is unconscious when you do an IO. You put it right into the bone to the marrow, pull out the center and hook the fluids up to it. On a normal person one of the main spots you do it on is a tibia or humerus. There are a few other options. We practice on raw chicken pieces so the bone in the center isnt soft
Then we worked on intubation on peds and adults using an ET, King, or LMA tubes

It was a good refresher because its been about 8 years since Ive last done it!
