Candelight Vigil

Less than 24 hrs after the incident we had a CISD
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing
There were a lot of people in attendance
Its for individuals that are involved in a high stress incident to come together with Peers from the Fire/EMS/Dispatch/Law enforcement agencies to help us deal with what we've experienced
To be able to talk about it
Share our feelings, angers, emotions, fears etc
To discuss what took place and to support those that are dealing with the incident emotionally
CISD's are so very hard
This was the hardest one by far that I've ever been to
Full of emotion
But its good to talk about it
Its good to hear all sides
Get the perspectives and get some closure also
They are also so beneficial and necessary

The CISD was good for as good as they can be
Its nice to support and feel supported
To know you're all in the same situation and are all there for each other
It lasted just over 2 hours

After that there was a candlelight vigil for Fallen Officer Francom and the other 5 injured officers at the Ogden Amphitheater
If you've not been through a debriefing they are very emotionally taxing
They wear you out
Its a lot to take in and try and process so quickly after such a bad incident
Then to go to the candelight vigil afterwards was hard

All agencies that showed up came in uniform
What a neat experience
The amphitheater was full of officers in uniform
Some in their Class A's
They handed out candles to all those that showed up
We had a moment of silence

They played a slide show honoring all 6 victims
Then they asked all law enforcement who was there to come up on stage and honored them
Ogden City Fire was also there showing their support

The vigil was a very emotional and humbling experience
Something that was significant in bringing the communities together

That is such a sad situation. It was interesting to hear about the support group for those involved, I didn't know that existed. Thank you for sharing.
