The support that has been shown during this incident has been incredible
The only way I can express it is through blogging
So many of the people were anonymous
I wanted to share this with everyone to show just how amazing people can be
My work shares the building with OPD and OFD
This is just some of what the station and dispatch here has received
Hand drawn cards from a local elementary school
The lobby of OPD had a ton of flowers
Cards our center had received from other centers
Flowers our dispatch has received
We also got all kinds of treats!
This sweet cookie basket
And this anonymous donation had to come from a dispatcher or a dispatch center because they knew exactly what to give us!!
This HUGE bucket was FULL of food
Dispatcher Food
Coffee, Tea, sugar free cookies, pop, chocolate, popcorn, chips and dip, pop tarts, and it just went on and on
It brought me to tears just opening it up to see what was in there
So much thought went into it
So many other things have been done
I had a good officer friend go into the 711 and an older man came up and gave him a hug to thank him for what they do
Notes of thank you and condolences have been left on officers cars while they're on calls or in businesses
People have approached them while they're eating just to tell them thank you and that they appreciate them
Businesses have supported by donating food or meals or putting up banners or signs
It has been absolutely amazing to see
So many other donations or things have been done or said
Our center has received a ton of emails from other agencies or centers sending their condolences and support
Citizens were calling in for days to express their grief and appreciation
This doesn't even start to sum up the love that has been shown but its a few examples Ive been able to give
What a humbling experience to be able to witness
So to all of you thank you
