Day 1 & 2 in Texas-Airmans Run and Coin Ceremony

On Wednesday CW's mom (Kellie), dad (Craig), sister(Kimberly), her daughter (Zoey), her boyfriend (Mark) all hopped on a plane bright and early and flew into San Antonio Texas!
This was my first time ever being in Texas!
We got into town, found our hotel, met up with his dads first cousin (Nyla) and her husband (Walt) and all went out for FABULOUS italian food, went to walmart of course and went to bed!
The next morning was the first time we were allowed to see CW
We showed up on base at 7am and lined up to see the Airmans Run
Walt (he also is the one who did my hand writting analysis and he's retired army and retired air force reserve) Nyla (she was over all the civil contracts on HAFB) Craig (Used to work at HAFB) Me, Kim, Mark (Was a Marine.. so he never smiles in pictures haha) and Zoe
Lackland Air Force Base has a graduation EVERY WEEKEND
Its crazy!
There is so much that goes into place I cant believe it
The family and friends line the streets waiting
The airmen start at one end of the street and run in formation singing their jody calls to the end of the street and turn around and come back
I think its a mile and a half total
Each flight was wearing different colored clothes
This was his group
They went down to the end of the road, turned around and came back
Technically they are supposed to only look at the head in infront of them
Not look at anyone else and not smile
haha bet you cant guess which one CW is
This was the first we had actually seen him in over 8 weeks!
After the run they went back to their dorms to change clothes and get ready for the coin ceremony
We all filled out into this area to sit and wait
They brought all the honor graduates out and did a special little ceremony for them
CW was ONE POINT away from being an honor grad
I didnt know this but illegal aliens can join our military
however they have to be naturalized prior to graduation from basic
These two had met the requirements and we were able to watch their naturalization process
They make them swear allegiance to the United States and are required to know a lot more about our history ect than most Americans probably know
The band started playing and the flights marched out into the square one flight at a time all in perfect sync
It was finally time for CWs flight
He had told us where to sit and it was perfect! We were right infront of him pretty much
It was actually really interesting to see and watch
I wasnt sure what to think about the whole ceremony to start with to be honest some of the things we were told they were going to do sounded really dumb
BUT when they acutally did them it just left you in awe and with swelling heart for the USA
They said their creed, sang their airmans song, were given their airmans coin
There were some neat speaches and then the lowering of the flag with a great speach about the flag
After that they finally released us to go see him!
We fought the crowd and went out to see him
He had to stand in place until we got to him
CW and Kellie
CW and Craig
Me and CW
